HONEY BADGERS DON'T CARE! Why the Honey Badger is like the Undead: - They do not care about anything except for feeding. - It's a fiesty little beast that does nothing but hunt for food all day. - They do not care about anything except for feeding. - When it finds it's food it tears into it's flesh like a ferocious demon from hell. - They do not care about anything except for feeding. - Nothing can stop the Honey Badger when it's hungry! A Brief History The quaint City of Nocturn Falls was a hidden paradise in an otherwise ruthless world. It donned beautiful vegitation, quiet neighbors, and a lovely set of water falls on the outskirts of town. The falls, from which the city earned it's name, were so peaceful to look at you could lose yourself for hours. All of this was true until the unmentionables started to arrive. No one really knows what happened as most of the inhabitants of Nocturn Falls kept to themselves and avoided outside contact, but their peaceful way of life was suddenly turned into pure and utter chaos when the previously sleeping residents of the local cemetaries and crypts started wandering in the streets again. Some called it judgment day while others referred to it as the apocalypse. The more fanatic of the town preached about how this was God's way of cleansing his paradise of the disease called man. It didn't matter what your belief was because one thing was certain, and that was there appeared to be no way to satiate the overwhelming appetite of these vile and despicable creatures that had overcome Nocturn Falls. Not too long after the dead had moved into the City a team of miscreants showed up seeking refuge. They said they played a sport called Blood Bowl and were making their way to a large tournament in the neighboring City of Darabont when they where ambushed by a group of unmentionables. They fled through the woods and discovered Nocturn Falls. Wanting to stay sharp for the upcoming tournament and seeing the opportunity for mutual gain, the team of ruffians organized a match against the filthy, lumbering dead. As it would turn out, much to the surprise of the remaining citizens of Nocturn Falls and even more so the team, the walking dead not only showed an uncanny knack for the sport but feasted on all of their players. Of course this only bolstered the talent level of their newly found ranks because the fresh recruits, once they were on their feet again, had some built-in experience and only slightly used equipment. Seeing the opportunity to exploit this strange occurence the remaining townsfolk attempted to pursuade the local kook to "coach" the team. This individual, went by the name Jonas VonMortis and was a mysterious, skulking personality that most people didn't know anything about other then he seemed to have a very strange way in dealing with the unmentionables. His techniques bordered on having the ability to control them. Nobody seemed to question this unusual phenomenon and everyone thought that given the current situation that he was the perfect candidate for the job. At this point it should be known that Jonas was in fact the cause of the dreaded blight that now plagued the once fair land of Nocturn Falls. He was an aspiring Necromancer that, quite by accident, had managed to raise the dead from their eternal slumber during one of his ritual incantations. Nobody had found out what VonMortis was up to because the towns folk seemed all to keen on maintaining their seclussions, so his reluctance in taking the position was for a very good reason. None the less, the persistent (and desperate) people of Nocturn Falls brushed off his unwillingness as him just being "Jonas the town wierdo." However, the survivors of Nocturn Falls grew impatient quickly with his persistent refusals as they were quite convinced that he was the only man for the job. The demands finally became so severe that Jonas finally agreed to do it. Folks had started asking too many questions about his reluctance and he feared that with the constant berading his secret would be discovered if he continued to obstain. Besides, the chance to step in and be the hero was much more appealing even if the whole debacle was his doing. The townsfolk rejoiced as they went about baiting the shambling wreck of a Blood Bowl team down to Darabont and entered them into the tournament. There Coach VonMortis proved to be adequate enough at manuevering the beasts and they ended up placing 2nd, narrowly missing out on the title by a single TD. Nobody could believe this unknown team of rotten corpses could be good enough to just drag themselves from the middle of nowhere and place 2nd in their first tournament. The sports world was aflutter. And it should have been because this would seem to be a most ludacrous tale at first telling. But alas it is the way it was. The team was bestowed the moniker of the Honey Badgers because of their tenacious style of play coupled with their unfillable bellies. Over the coming years the popularity of the team rose to levels nobody could have dreamed of. The attention and funding the team brought in provided enough defenses to cull the undead down to a managable level and, for the most part, help restore the city of Nocturn Falls to it's former glory, albeit a little less quiet. The survivors from the original onslaught claimed ownership of the team and split the profits in equal shares. The team's success brought in enough money to build a state of the art facility and persuade the NWFL to add them into the league. Of course the players don't really care how much money they make or how many rowdy fans show up for the game. They usually don't even care about scoring. The only thing they seem to really do well is rend the flesh of the opposition and consume their entrails. Hence the team motto: "HONEY BADGERS DON'T CARE!" The Nocturn Falls Honey Badgers are a proud member of the: |
