Superior positioning and some serious physical domination allowed the Slugs to take their first game 2-0. To what degree did the UCSC squad dominate the Eagles? Eastern WA's coach, Muktar, despite an avowed distaste for end of match fouls, called for a group pile on the sixteenth turn in a desperate attempt at saving face. "Words" Dizikes was not particularly impressed by the booting, describing it in an after match interview as 'uninspired'.

vs. Notre Dame Fuzzled Irish | Away | 2 - 0

After a rough start with Tim "Doublefine" Schafer knocking himself down against a mere Dwarf Lineman and Lore "Shuttlecock" Sjöberg tripping on his own toes, the Slugs popped the ball free from a poorly set cage with a blitz by Andy "Inna Box" Samberg. Freshman Laurence "Dragonwings" Yep scooped the free ball and ran it in for the first and only touchdown of the first half. Receiving in the second half and up a point, the Slugs could take their time and grind out the clock against their opponents.

Frank "Equation" Drake received a promotion from Ghoul to Zombie in this match.

vs. South Florida Cockroaches | Home | 3 - 0

Kicking off to their opponents, the Slugs demonstrated some truly admirable defense. After they kicked the teeth out of the Cockroaches' ball carrier, they established a dominant field position, the Slugs kept close control of the ball. This let them relentlessly grind down the numbers of the Nordic (?!?) Floridians; they might know how to hit, but they sure don't know how to take a punch.

Both Roberto "Rocking" Nájera and Ralph "Numbers" Abraham have decided to take a sabbatical from the team until their injuries heal. Expect to see them back on the roster in a game or two.

vs. UCLA Bruisers | Away |1 - 1

The Slugs struggled to find their tempo in this game against the solid Ork lineup. Laurence "Dragonwings" Yep proved that he's ten times the ghoul "Equation" Drake ever was when he broke away from the repeated attempts by the Bruisers and tucked in the Slugs only touchdown.
