Hailing from the teeming jungles of Lustria, these hardy amphibians grew tired of the lazy hot summers and relocated via a little-known underground river system, to Loch Mess, a deep water-filled chasm in the Northern Wastes.

From their secret hiding place they observed the strange behaviour of the local wildlife. Most of the fauna simply idled away their time eating sleeping and procreating. Disappointed to find this alien society behaving identically to their own, they became more adventurous in their observations. On occasion they were spotted by their subjects but quickly dove beneath the waves and they were forgotten once more. Little did they know that they became the subjects of much speculation -- The Loch Mess monster myth was born!

As the Slann explorered further afield, they came across strange "organised battles" which seemed to gather large crowds and then for some reason only 11 warriors on each side actually fought. Even stranger was the manner of the fighting -- It seemed to revolve around a small dead animal or some such device which was carried from one camp to the other amid great cheering from the fanatical spectators (or fans as they were dubbed by the immigrants).

These battles captivated the young Slann offspring. There seemed to be a remarkable amount of skill on display, adolation, goading, mutual respect even. It also seemed compulsory to kill or maim your opponents at every chance but this is not what enthralled the Slann. The roar of the crowd stirred their blood. This is why they emigrated. This is why they had travelled 6000 miles to pastures new.

It was not long before they had observed enough to be able to mimic the local protagonists to a reasonable standard. They fought amongst themselves, trained, practiced. The thrill of success stirring them onwards to greater achievements. They were ready!

Not far south they encountered an abandoned fortification (well, it was abandoned shortly after they arrived!) and set themselves up in a defensive position. They renamed the settlement iKrox Stadium and sent scouts to spread the word about their intention to particpate.

At first the locals were surprised and apprehensive of the never-before-seen Lustrians but soon curiosity prevailed and they were embraced by their new peers.
