The Maidens of the Just Spear are a chivalric order devoted to Myrmidia. Myrmidia is the Goddess of warfare and the protectress of civilization; she is the patroness of strategists, soldiers, artisans of war, and organised and disciplined military professions. The senior temple to Myrmidia is in the Estalian southern sea port, the city of Magritta, but there are large temples in every urban centre of the southern Old World. During the wars against Araby some of Kislev's warrior maidens helped to recapture said temple of Myrmidia in Magritta in 1457 IC. This was part of the crusades which eventually freed the land of Estalia from the Arabian invaders. The battle was a great victory for the warriors of the Old World, and the Kislevites witnessed a divine miracle: During the fierce street fighting around the temple of Myrmidia, a group of warrior maidens found themselves surrounded by the dreaded Black Scimitar Guard led by Emir Wasr the Cruel. Just as the Arabians closed in, a strong young woman armed with a spear and armoured in classical fashion appeared. She threw the spear, which turned blazing red and struck Wasr the Cruel right in his heart. After that, the woman disappeared, while the Black Scimitar Guard, shocked by the death of the Emir, broke ranks and fled. Afterwards, upon returning to Kislev, the surviving warrior maidens of that battle established the Order of the Maidens of the Just Spear with Myrmidia as its patroness and protectress and built a shrine to Myrmidia in Erengrad. |
