Strangers still give Count Johann Fiergussen that deja vu look, like they know him but they’re not sure why. "They get suspicious when I start talking to them,” he said. Some recognize his voice, others his face. Sort of. It’s because Fiergussen is so good at bad, or at least acting that way. For decades, he was known for his alter ego, the sinister but strangely beloved local Cabal-Vision character Lord Johann Greygore. It began more than 50 years ago on Cabal-Vision VMP-TV when the king of local children’s programming, Dano Wilhelm, needed a villain, someone to play opposite Wilhelm’s hero character, Dano D. Dynamo, aka 3-D Dano. So Fiergussen, an actor from Ostland who had tried the acting thing for a few years, sat down with some makeup. He fooled around until he had created a despicable guy in the mirror. Wilhelm went for it, and the Duke of Mirkland was born. The who? The Duke was only one of many characters Fiergussen would play, including the Tycoon, Redbeard, Bezark the Orc, Mr. Person, even a good-guy character, Dano’s sidekick Arbick. All would soon fade from the growing Cabal-Vision scene, though. But an unrelated character would make Fiergussen an enduring local celebrity, a persona for which he’s still known. Hendrick Hoffman, Cabal-Vision Manager, asked Fiergussen to come up with a character to host a series of horror plays, a late-night Cabal-Vision show called "Shock Theater.” Lord Johann Greygore was unleashed on the Old World. The mysterious and macabre yet chummy vampire-esque fellow with a sense of humor struck a nerve with Old World viewers. For years Shock Theater was the late night show that everyone tuned in for. That was until replays of the Reikland Reavers games began to show across the Old World. Ratings took a big hit, Shock Theater became the lowest rated show on Cabal-Vision in that time slot. After all his success, reality hit Fiergussen hard as Shock Theater was cancelled. It was months later that a drunk Count Johann Fiergussen stumbled onto the fact that his late great grandfather was indeed a necromancer. Fiergussen, unsure of what possibilities his family heritage could provide sought out the nonliving. What started with a Zombie here and a Skeleton there soon became a Wight and some Ghouls. Later he raised the mightiest of the fallen, a Mummy. Fiergussen was proud of his small Undead Army. All he wanted to do was to make it grow and then travel to Reikland and watch the city burn. But there were limits to his power, at most he could only control 14-16 of the deceased at one time. Perhaps the fall of Reikland was not needed, just the fall of their legendary status in Blood Bowl. It was then that Fiergussen decided to train his Undead to play Blood Bowl. Train his team to beat the fan favorite Reavers of Reikland, to conquer all those that got in his way. It was time that the man that hosted Shock Theater and was beloved by the fans of the Old World was now being shocked once again but fearing him in a different way. Thus the Greygore Shockers were born with the objective to take over the Blood Bowl world and to seek revenge on those Reavers that drove him away from Cabal-Vision! Fear the GREYGORE SHOCKERS! |
