One day Faster Than Light (FTL to fans and friends), the mega-star gutter runner from the Unbelievable! blood-bowl franchise, woke up after a really rough game and realized he wouldn't be able to play bloodball forever. Eventually, he'd get clocked one too many times, or simple age and wear and tear would slow him down. Sooner or later, he'd have to decide what to do "AFTER". (Turns out, it was sooner than later, as the Unbelievable! franchise retired due to excessive team injuries.) As bloodball had been his life since he was just a pup, he had no real clue.

His thoughts were interrupted by his sister's kids rushing into the room and jumping onto the bed, demanding he regale them with stories of his legendary exploits on the pitch. (He knew he wasn't yet a legend, but to these kids who looked up to him with such wide open eyes, he was.) And that's when it hit him--coach the next generation of bloodballers! He himself had been instructed by an old niggled GR, who taught him everything he needed to start. But his old mentor had never made it past being a rookie--FTL was far more qualified to instruct not only future GR's, but anybody wearing a skaven uniform!

So with the coach's permission, FTL took some time away from practice to set up his own team. Who better to construct the team around than his own nieces and nephews, who could one day be even faster than he? Speed did run in the family, after all. But you need more than speed to make a top skaven team--you must have some muscle as well. That's why, despite the protests of the kids, FTL recruited the neighborhood bully (he really is actually very friendly, once you get to know him) and the SV twins, who recently moved in from out of town. The kids' babysitter, a computer genius with surprising hand-eye coordination, was brought on to watch over the little ones when FTL was away playing games himself. Open auditions were held to round out the last three roster slots. Many kids in the neighborhood wanted to be a part of FTL's team, the only team to accept kids as equals to adults, but FTL's very selective in only picking the kids most likely to survive the grueling game.

And so begins FTL's dreams of coaching his own team of family rats, hoping to correct the perceived mistakes his own coach had made with the development of his own team. Unbelievable! players are bound to make cameo appearances as assistant coaches if this team proves itself viable down the road...

And so ends FTL's dreams of having a super-star team. In a two game stretch, we picked up 4 niggles (including our best two players) and two RIP. Although the remaining 7 were willing to give rebuilding a try, coach FTL has had enough. He won't allow any more of his precious family members be hurt trying to fulfill his own broken dreams. Enough is enough...
