One evening as he was relaxing in the spire of his floating castle and watching a game of Blood Bowl through his scrying mirror, the great wizard Volyathreon Labyrinthus was struck by inspiration. He would create his own Blood Bowl team! The following day he proclaimed that he would take not one, but eleven apprentices, on the condition that they would play for his team. The great Labyrinthus had never had any apprentices before and many young aspiring wizards from all over Saphery journeyed to his castle for the chance to study under a great wizard, and perhaps win personal honor on the Blood Bowl pitch in the meantime.

Thus the Saphery Serpents were formed.
