There were few foes worthy of battler, fewer still were the warlords willing to hire him. The land grew fat, and so did Golgfag and his mercenary band on the rich pickings readily available for any ogre to take from a terrified peasant. Many would have called this a golden age. But Golgfag grew bored. Blood Bowl became the best, most favoured way to pass the time. Whether playing or watching, the violence, the bloodshed, and the snacks available at the stadium made for good entertainment. Many ogres from Golgfag's band joined teams as mercenaries, or formed teams of their own. Golgfag's ogres scored many victories, and suffered many defeats, but invariably caused mayhem – and for a while he was amused. But after a spell even this lost its appeal. Golgfag sought a new challenge. A new entertainment. Even greater bloodshed. And so Golgfag hatched a plan, so mightily cruel and stupid he could not help but laugh. A team of gnoblars only. Swarming pointlessly about the pitch, before getting crushed beneath the boots of other teams – ogres, humans, ratmen... The gnoblars wouldn't stand a chance. He laughed a great, gutteral, gasping laugh, saliva dripping from his slathering chops and he shoved another fistful of manmeat into his maw. Yes, this would be entertaining. At least for a little while. And who knows – perhaps they'll score a touchdown? Perhaps a few of them might even survive...? Leering at the other ogres around him, he placed a wager. Golgfag's Gnoblars to win the Ogre-Hio open. Greedy ogre eyes lit up, crowding around the enormous warlord's chest, eager to take this apparently foolhardy bet. Yes, this would be entertaining. |
