Black Canyon Blitzers
P [R] Orc

Thus begins the chronicles of the Orcs of Black Canyon - my first FUMBBL team.

GAME ONE
This was a decent opening game fought to a 1-1 draw against the Horde of Underdeep, a 0-0-1 Skaven team who were fortunately playing without their Rat Ogre. Having been out of coaching for several years, Coach Ansbach commited several rookie mistakes in the first half, but then things settled down in the second half and the Blitzers played extremely well. Things got off to a rocky start as the Blitzers forgot to cover the wide-zones (first game jitters???) and the Horde scored early on a nice 3-player combo. The Blitzers then made a feeble attempt at a cage, but mistakes and poor blocking stopped the drive in it's tracks. They almost scored anyway, but the ball carrier pulled a hamstring running for the endzone. A solid drive would have won them the game - looks like the Coach is a bit rusty on cage forming! The lesson was learned in the second half, however, as the Blitzers put together a textbook 6-turn TD drive to tie the game and then held off a last ditch effort by the Skaven. After the game the Blitzers added an Apothecary to the payroll - they won't always be playing soft, squishy rats!

GAME TWO
The Blitzer's second game was a blow-out vs. a Wood Elf team with 10 players an no rerolls(?!?). A bit of an odd game, the Wood Elves were passing like Orcs and the Orcs were passing like Wood Elves, with Erorg Deathkicker throwing a ridiculous, perfect Long Bomb to end the game! Cage formations were first class all game. Apparently the butt-chewing they received last game for poor blocking worked, as they didn't seem to fail any blocks. The opposing coach was an excellent sport however - he did not get upset in the slightest despite some bad luck and was very friendly to play against. After the game, Black Canyon picked up a new Black Orc Blocker - Hurag Horseslayer!

GAME THREE
The third game was a hard-fought win over the Vanquished Veterans, an Elf team with an experienced coach. The Blitzers drove the ball the entire length of the pitch, scoring on the last play of the half. In the second half the defense held strong, with neither team able to retain possession of the ball for very long. Black Canyon went on to win it 1-0 in their toughest game of the season so far.

GAME FOUR
Hosting the Dwarven team Go Fasta Dorfs, game four was a rough and tumble match between the two hard hitting teams. The Blitzer's aggressive defense put the ball on the pitch early, where it pretty much stayed for the rest of the half. The second half began with a nice drive by Black Canyon, who were able to punch one in. With only a few turns left for the Dwarves, the Blitzer defense stayed true to form as they held on to win their third game in a row. The top-notch Black Canyon Blitzer defense has not allowed a TD in 61 turns!

GAME FIVE
The fifth game was against another Orc team, Hard Stuff, one scattered with Mighty Blow to wear down opponents over time. After a double-skulls roll early in the game, Hard Stuff was able to pick up the ball and easily run it in - only the second TD scored against the Blitzers to date. In the second half Black Canyon scored the equalizer, causing a riot to break out that lasted the rest of the game. All in all it was a strange game.

GAME SIX
Game six for the Black Canyon Blitzers was another tough defensive match - this time against the Ostland Racers, a human team with a pair of veteran players. The Blitzers kicked off in the first half and held the Racers throughout, until Ostland's rookie catcher Skippy Turf-tripper managed to dodge past 2 defenders into the endzone right before the halftime whistle! Skippy's TD was only the third ever scored against the tough Black Canyon defense and earned him the MVP from his teammates. The second half saw the Blitzers facing equal difficulty pushing the ball forward, but as the game wore on the Racers began to wear down, losing several players from the pitch. In a valiant effort the Ostland defense was able to put the ball on the pitch twice during the drive, but were unable to capitalize on the turnovers. Once again proving why he is considered the top player for the Black Canyon Blitzers, team captain Pogdish Ratstomper was able to return the first half favor and scored the equalizer with seconds left on the clock, keeping the Bliters undefeated!
