The team was founded by Imperial Mining employees looking for a bit of entertainment in the Crud-Creek Mining Camp. Although the bored miners would most likely have liked to have taken the field themselves, the pit bosses wouldn't allow them to due to the high risk of injury. Paradoxically they were given permission to round up some Trolls and Snotlings with the intention of forming a team.
