Graft and corruption are commonplace, as are bribery, money-laundering, skullduggery, nepotism, decadence, degeneracy, moral turpitude and all conceivable forms of criminal enterprise. Everything is traded and for sale - especially noble titles and high public office. And so it is that in our day the once noble ranks of the Blood Bowl playing aristocracy have been filled with vermin, cut-purses, cut-throats, riffraff, scoundrels, impostors, snobs, nouveaux riches, rascals, chancers - indeed every denizen of the worst hives of scum and villainy that this blasted earth has ever vomited forth. They make a desert and call it social climbing! [Note: Not wanting to tax the patience of our dear and gentle reader, we have used the short forms of the once noble titles. For example: "Warden of the Cinque Stadia" in lieu of "His Supreme Excellency Warden of the Cinque Stadia, Marquis of Middenland, Keeper of Nuffle's Sacred Memorabilia (disputed), Bailiff of the Howling Hills Hundreds, Grand Knight of the Order of the Armoured Codpiece, Third Cup-Bearer to His Imperial Majesty, &c., &c.".] |
