THE HISTORY

Murcy Widgeon had a dream!

She had grown up watching the Master Butchers of the Greenleafs turn bloody torn flesh into glorious succulent cutlets. She had seen the legendary Chefs of Eicheschatten stuff fowl into poultry, poultry into wildflock, creating a feast beyond imagination.

It was in her blood. The Halfing finesse with knife, the flair for creating something majestic from nothing. Why stop there? After all it was just flesh and bone.

Murcy created the Grand Mootland Infirmary (GMI) on the outskirts on Sauerapfel. A haven for those Halfings wanting to put their skills to the test as apothecaries, shrinks and surgeons. Over the years the reputation of "Mother Murcy's", as the locals knew it, grew. Stories about of miraculous recoveries and rumours of appointments for the rich and famous spread like wildfire.

Over time more and more bloodied and broken Blood Bowl player started turning up at the door, many destitute having lost their lucrative contracts. Murcy felt a responsibility to help...but it all came at a cost and Murcy had outgoings to cover. It was perhaps timely that a tall pale elf came knocking at the door.

THE DEAL

There was to be a wonderful synergy. Murcy and team fulfilling their ambitions by patching up their 'guests'. Getting them into fighting shape and pushing them back out there in front of the baying crowds of the Auld World Conference. Thus the Sauerapfel Rehabilitators were born.

Star Insurance Guild would fund the organisation. How better to hook into that untapped goldmine of Sports Insurance? The fact that they could recoup a small premium on many players didn't go unnoticed either. It would take a keen eye to spot that their Human Blitzer and Dwarven Blockers just happened to be paid more than the standard union rate.

There was though one major oversight. In a staff of Doctors, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Surgeons, Actuaries, Adjustors, Salespeople and Underwriters nobody actually understood the game of Blood Bowl!
STAFF ROOM

For too long the spotlight of Blood Bowl has been on those few that cross the line onto the Astrogranite. Murcy Widgeon knew that behind any great team, was a great team! She hire the best.

Curlella Patchpetal
Surgeon

Curlella was one of Murcy's first and best students. Perhaps most significantly was their near telepathic understanding. Many of the other staff referred to her as 'Mini Murcy'. Outwardly Curlella wouldn't acknowledge such silliness, but quietly it filled her with pride to be seen that way.

What ever was thrown in her way, Dr Patchpetal was more than a match for it. Hailing from a family of renowned halfing butchers, from an early age Curlella was at one with a knife and could remove an organ with a mere flick.

This was her chance to test herself!

Toby Asthunky
Analyst/Therapist/Councellor/Life Coach

Toby Asthunky considered himself a thespian. The fact he has never successfully managed to convince one of the travelling players passing through the Moot to take him on didn't phase him. It was them not him!

In the meantime, Toby would continue to support Mother Murcy's. The importance of a 'never say die' attitude was his mantra. His role for the team was to break down all the bad habits players had learned elsewhere, to build up those fragile ego and to create a unflinching, unstoppable force of positivity.

Sarge
Physiotherapist

Nobody knew much about Sarge. In fact nobody knew their real name. They had simply turned up one day, muttered something about needing a job and nobody at the Grand Mootland Infirmary felt bold enough to say no. Many of the patients and staff often speculated on Sarge's history. What caused Sarge to leave the dwarven military? Could they see little hooks holding on that beard?

None of that really mattered. What did was the fact that when Sarge shouted at you, you listened. With the constant flow of those broken bodies coming through the gate, and in need of motivation to get up and get on, then Sarge was what they needed.

Nobbit Shufflefoot
Gardener/Groundsman/Tree Surgeon

Nobbit didn't want anything to do with all this nonsense. If a Treeman came along he'd have a look but otherwise "Geroff my grass!"

TEAM & PLAYER RECORDS

For Sauerapfel Rehabilitators just making it onto the field is reward enough. The team's only goal to given those in need a second chance.

For the Players, this is maybe their Last Chance (Moot!) of fulfilling their dreams. Overcoming such adversity as serous injury, bankruptcy and death, had made them stronger. Their individual goals were private, but always blessed by Mother Murcy!
