It has to be said - things were a mess. No-one was happy.

- The Dukes, Doges and petty Princelings could not afford to keep their armies in the field.

- The unwashed Mercenaries from the North would not come to fight for the pittance offered.

- Perhaps worst of all, the jolly citizens of northern Tilea, wanting nothing more than a chance to dress up in their puffed sleeves and flounces, had to spend whole weekends (longer with bank holidays) on the march, only to return and face their wives for a good nagging for their wet, muddy and otherwise trashed uniforms!

And of course, no result was ever achieved, given that it was out of the question to offer proper battle. What was to be done? Well, some genius (obviously a matter of dispute, as is the custom in Tilea) came up with the idea of playing Blood Bowl instead.

- The Dukes, Doges and petty Princelings could easily afford nice Blood Bowl teams (relatively speaking, at least).

- The unwashed Mercenaries from the North (it has to be said, not those of the best quality, but never mind) flocked once again to Tilea to offer their services.

- The wives too were happy (if wives can be happy), given that after a game of Blood Bowl, their husbands' uniforms were barely ruffled (for the average Tilean player, the march from dugout to field is much longer than the return journey).

So suddenly everyone was happy! Hence the team name.
