In da club to help coaches get better by sharing the ancient knowledge of the fist and brawl.
Also having a feast in the mutation buffet

If I don't remember to ask, please say what kind of game you want.
I could for example:
  • Give my opinion on how to improve your gaming
  • Comment your setup, roster and/or skill choices
  • Point out your (in my opinion) bad decisions you seem to do or habits you have
  • How to handle the client, marking players, adjusting size, saving setups
  • Just shut it and give you a challenge

<xmichmen> ok, thanks for game and advice! Propably I'll make new team. Too many injuries

Word about being lucky, losing and learning
https://bloodbowlstrategies.com/en/how-to-be-lucky/

"I read this and thought it was a great way of understanding what happens when you lose, and how when you rationalise a loss by saying the opposition is a better coach or, the dice robbed me we are stopping getting better. Have a read and see what you think...

Besides the blow to the ego, losing actually hurts; not in an abstract way, but in a very real manner! It makes your stomach churn, changes your blood pressure, constricts thousands of muscles, impairs decision making, elevates stress, reduces testosterone, causes dopamine deprival, and much more. It’s real, we’ve all felt it, and it’s no fun. Your body wants to feel better. Your mind wants to prove its worth. Your ego wants to regain its self-image. These are real and measurable physiological and psychological effects. Losing, quite literally, feels really bad.

The natural response is to rationalize the loss. We make legitimate sounding excuses, most often in the form of blaming our dice or the state of the rules. When we repeatedly fail to win, we lose confidence, and fall into thinking that we just can’t do it because the winner must be more talented. By blaming our dice or our relative lack of talent, we successfully cushion the blow to our egos by making ourselves believe that we are doing the best we can with what we’ve got. But in doing so, we rob ourselves of the learning opportunity presented to us. Losing is a relentless learning opportunity; to figure out what we do poorly, and fix it!"

Defensive Setups
Featuring picture and hidden explanation, so you can think what situation the setup is for.
Can you figure them out?

Quite safe setup vs bash team.
When you want to save those guys at the back from getting hit.
ST5 in the middle is also quite safe and ready to hit the fray after opponent hits the 3 guys in LOS

Made to stop opponent from running easily to your back field
They can break in from the middle, but you can counter with your 3rd line defenders
Vulnerability: Quick snap -> opponent can tag and block your 2nd line. Prone to frenzy surfing.

Made to stop opponent from running easily to your back field
Less secure middle than with the front variant, but you are futher back and are not vulnerable to quick snap
Vulnerability: You are deep and can't take advantage from them fumbbling the ball in their defense zone. Prone to frenzy surfing

Made to stop opponent from running easily to your back field. More centered than the Loose Screen, so opponent can do a push from the side, but not much room there to cage.
They can break in from the middle, but your 3rd line is there waiting

Vulnerability: Prone to frenzy surfing. Sideline is only 1 player strong

TIP! change the 2nd and 3rd line formation to get better side protection (but less middle)!

More tight than the loose variant, so ag1+ can't just 2+dodge through. Opponent can do a push from the side and fast players get to back field easily since your line is narrow.
They can break in from the middle, but your 3rd line is there waiting

Vulnerability: Prone to frenzy surfing. Sideline is only 1 player strong

TIP! Switch the 2nd and 3rd line formation to get better side protection (but less middle). See Weighted Chevron!

When you want to push them to take a side (and you've got Kick player to aim the ball to the side).
Option A:Kick to closed side. Quick players to the closed side 3rd line so they get to support open side or blitz the closed side, if opponent fumbbles the ball or BLITZ! kick-off occurs
Option B: Kick to your open side and use that side to strike while closed side tries to stop the opponent
TIP! Choose A or B depending on the opponents setup and kick result. You need Kick skill to use these options relatively safely.

Or you just have uneven team or less than 11 players. One side is free for the opponent to push and other side is closed.

If opponent chooses the open side, your LOS guys are there and the game will soon push to the side unless opponent backs down.
If opponent chooses the closed side, then just prevent them from punching through and you got them surrounded soon enough.

Vulnerability: Open side is free to run fast players to your back field. Sideline is only 1 player strong on the closed side. Middle has a point to blitz and run through.

TIP! to make the middle safer, move 3rd line Blitzer (B9) and Lineman D one square down!

Middle is quite protected. They can take down LOS, but still hard to find clear route. Sides are safe from frenzy blitzes surfing your players on turn 1.

Vulnerability: Sidelines are free. Middle is easily opened with LOS grabbers.

TIP! Make middle safer. Move either side one square up/down to close the middle and make this non-symmetrical to the other side!
\

Anchor variant, made to cause trouble to frenzy heavy teams, such as Khorne and Norse. Idea is that they will follow up after the 1st block and the your 2nd line is there waiting to give negative assists. Also your good hitter are willing to take the initiative when the LOS falls or is pushed back.

Vulnerability: Sidelines are free. You are close to the opponent and Quick Snap means trouble. Also your rear is quite exposed to blitzes.

TIP!If you've guard, use them in the middle for maximum assistance benefit! !

Caging
how to do it

The cage is set correctly in X shape. There is just one flaw, the skeletons are next to your corner guy. In their turn the skellingtons can push a hole in the cage for a blitz on the ball carrier. See Ratcage 1, turn 1/1

TIP!If you've Block, Guard, Side Step or Stand Firm, use them in the corners of your cage for additional protection!

Skeletons managed to push the rats away and Anointed Blitzer came in for a 2d on the ball (Blitzer ST3 vs. Gutter Runner ST2).

TIP!If you've Block and Dodge on your carrier the ball carrier is harder to knock down. Add Sure Hands and even Strip Ball won't affect your carrier!

All the corners are free from opponents, so the ball rat is quite safe inside their cage. Despite their rage...

TIP!Cage is the second safest place to be, out of reach of your opponents is the safest place!

If you read the first 3 parts, I guess you know whats wrong here (don't mind the "ready marks on the rats")
Yes, again your cage is tagged and most likely it can be broken and the ball carrier pushed in to the crowd or just blitzed.

TIP! When side caging be sure opponent doesn't have Frenzy, Juggernaut, Grab, Leap or players that can dodge really well. Crowd surfing isn't healthy for your players' health!

Have your corners free. If you've Stand Firm and/or Side Step, use them on the side cage so they are harder to surf.

TIP! If possible make a second screen to prevent opponent from getting to your side cage or preventing you from moving the next turn!

Screening
short explanation

Here some different screens to prevent free movement of your opponent. Lines separate different situations.
Some are better than other, can you trace best movement lines to get past these?

Green = safe movement
Yellow = Dodge without modifiers
Red = -1 modifier to dodge
This is the same as earlier, but the lines are removed and its just one big dodge bootcamp
Green = safe movement
Yellow = Dodge without modifiers
Red = -1 modifier to dodge

ABC of Frenzy (work in progress)
Some aid to plan play with Frenzy skill or against it

Think about the 2nd block also when blocking with frenzy, assist accordingly.
TIP! Watch out for Side Step, they can choose where you push them!

Try to block so your players assist on your 2nd block if you fail to take down the opponent on the 1st player. Don't push away too early. Push away, if you want to free your assisting player on the 2nd block to let them move freely or catch without negative modifiers.
TIP! Frenzy is a powerful tool when used correctly and can be easily chained to move opponent many squares a turn!

Try to blitz so your blitzer comes in from the right angle in order to frenzy in the right direction.
TIP! Frenzy can be used to chain push your players!

Frenzy makes it possible to push a player to the crowd aka. "surf". Surfing an opponent gives you upper hand easily and you can even lure opposing coach to surf a cheap player and then surf their good player with your frenzy piece.
Just take notice they don't have skills that prevent the surfing!
TIP! Blitzing with Juggernaut player prevents opponent from using Stand Firm!

The use of Stand Firm is optional and opponent can choose not to use it. This might be the case when a push back puts your player in bad position. Then again use it to keep you in the bad place.
TIP! Pushing opponent against your own Stand Firm player lets YOU decide if the players move or not!

Blocking Side Step tend to lead putting your player in bad position. The use of Side Step is optional, but usually opponent will use it.
TIP! If you cover all the squares that are bad for you, opponent can't Side Step into those squares!

Side Step next to sidelines are real pain for Frenzy players. The Side Stepper might rotate the Frenzy player around so that they end up pinned against the side.
TIP! It might be better not to block at all with frenzy guy, if there is a chance they end up in dangerous situation!

[block=panel width=400px][block=panelheader]Comments[/block][block=pad10]<Lakai> finally, after long time here i am receiving some usefull tips
<Lakai> was interesting to play with you man, hope to meet with you again, was a good chance to learn

seandaws:
had a good look there at the caging pics. Very helpful. I won't be caging and being tagged by any players again. The tip about the skills needed for the corners of the cage and side cages was extremely useful. Also realised I should aim to skill out a ball carrier with blodge. The setups are very good too. I'll look at more tomorrow.
