There was no doubt about it. Despite being the same age since the early 90's, Rod and Todd were getting older. They were inevitably approaching "that age" and, more concerningly, "those urges". Singing songs, reading books, and cold showers just didn't seem enough any more. Something had to be done and quickly-diddly.

Ned decided that a safe and healthy outlet to divert them was needed. Certainly not a game, as that sounded suspiciously like fun, but perhaps a sport? But which one? Lacrosse, caber tossing, or kabaddi-adderly?

A reference to a "Bowl of Blood" sounded somewhat ecclesiastical, and thus promising, to Ned. Looking into this further, he found references to Fend ("a useful skill to avoid close contact with girls and others" thought Ned), Nerves of Steel ("surely some form of rigorous discipline training involving self-flagellation to ward off the wiles of temptation"), and something called the Hail Mary Pass ("presumably a sacred site that one could visit to offer devotions and buy cheap souvenirs").

Apart from "Dumping Off" in public, this sounded like just the thingamajiggy for his boys. On discovering that devotees of this sport hold that "dice are wicked" and not to be rolled, let alone trusted, he needed no further convincing.

In theory this sounded good, but how was Ned to know if this sport was truly appropriate for his sons? There was only one way to find out. He put out a call to the family, and assembled them into a team-adoodly...
