To a sailor whose lust for adventure courses through his veins, time away from the sea breeds blood.” – ancient Brionnese quote Brionne is renowned throughout Bretonnia for its beauty, both natural and manmade. With soaring coastal cliffs, rugged mountains reaching the heavens, pastoral glades, matched only by the beauty of the soaring spires of its castles, the rugged beauty of the dry stacked city walls, and the quaint villages straight out storybook tales. Early in his reign Duke Theodric had the brilliant idea to impress the rowdiest of the young men into naval service. This killed two birds with one stone by bolstering the ranks of Brionne’s privateers fighting pirates along the coast, as well as protecting his peaceful dukedom from the havoc that only young men can wreck. His plan met success greater than his wildest imaginings and before long the vicious pirates, once common off the coast, had found safer hunting grounds. Without imminent threat these rowdy young men, grown rowdier from their time at sea, were rampaging through the idyllic coastal towns of Brionne. In another stroke of brilliance Duke Theodric, a devout Blood Bowl fan, devised a new plan to keep these men in check. Gathering his top admirals together he tasked them with fielding the strongest, fastest, most skilled crewmen they could find to field a team in the newly formed Draft League Extraordinaire. Those not making the cut were to enter into a Blood Bowl training regimen while maintaining their duties as coastal patrollers. Thus the Brionne Admirals were born, for the glory (and safety) of Brionne! [2020 Update] As these new-look Admirals embark into the unknown of BB2020 they bring with them the rich legacy and multiple championships of one of the greatest clubs to ever grace the pitch of the Old World. What greatness awaits! For the Glory of the Admirals & Brionne! Draft History
Ring of Honor "Fair winds and following seas and long may your big jib draw!" The Admirals have a long and storied history built on the legendary exploits of these foundational members. Benjamin Hornigold- There are not enough honorifics in all the varied languages of the Old World that would do justice to the legacy of this all-time-great. Only Legendary player in Admirals history. Led this team from game one till the final playoff match. At time of retirement Big Ben was the all-time Admiral leader in the following stats: Games (120), Turns (1452), Completions (50), Touchdowns (37), SPPs (205), Passing (107), and Rushing (1462). Edward Low- This tough as nails competitor did the dirty work from Season 1 all the way to the end. Manning the line of scrimmage with bravery and always willing for an extra jab with his hook to the unlucky downed player. At time of retirement was the Admirals all-time leader in Fouls (73) "Cap'n" James Hookerton- Former Team Captain all-around great and leader of men. J.B. Ironsides- The Rock this franchise was built on. Left (literally) massive shoes to fill. Duke "Big Bear" McNally- Duke's champion and face of the franchise. The Big Bear wore the mantle of Superstar with grace and aplomb. Sam "Six-Fingers" Lord- From 4th round draft pick to (at the time of retirement) the Admirals all-time leader in SPP and Touchdowns. Sam thrilled fans and dazzled foes for 60 games in the Blue and White and his love for the game will be missed. Salt Roriksson- Salt, of the sea-faring Roriksson clan, set the bar for longbeard play in an Admirals uniform. Manning the trenches and doing the dirty-work, playing through injuries and insults, to rise to the hallowed halls of the Ring of Honor. Your legacy lives on Salt, but future Rorikssons have their work cut out to match your legend. Oli "The Buzzard" Levasseur- From deckhand to Star, "The Buzzard" manned the trenches for more than 4 seasons. (A lifetime for DLE2 lineman) Protecting Hornigold's blindside on the pitch and entertaining the crew with his gallows humor off. Ace Morgan- Ace, original coachable veteran and member of the Season 1 championship squad, led by example through fair weather and foul. This tough as nails hitter entered Davy Jone's locker as the Admirals all-time leader in both blocks (680) and casualties (41). He ended his career as the great god of the seas demanded, on the pitch knockin fools out. He leaves a gaping hole in the Admirals roster in terms of toughness, tenacity, and pure grit. Though his spot may be filled, Ace Morgan will never be replaced. Icons |
