When a viking falls in battle he is picked up by the Valkyries afterwards and taken to the All-Father, Odin's hal of Valhalla.
Here he will wait for Ragnarok, idling the days away fighting, eating and drinking. A more heroic and suitable and for a viking can not be imagined.
Until Ragnarok comes however, some of the fallen warriors, have taken a liking to a carnage-filled and blood-soaked 'game', and have vowed to battle Evil (and Good) on the fields of Blood Bowl.

These eating, drinking, fighting vikings are known as Einherjerne, and the wise take heed to that old, old saying:
"Oh Lord, deliver us from the fury of the Norsemen"
