SWL SEASON 9: Began play in Conference, due to new racial restrictions imposed on the league and a new social sense of affirmative action, the Losers were given a chance to play with some of the leagues best..... which they promptly blew. A season full of injuries, hard fought draws, and more losses than wins saw them relegated to the Regional divisions. SWL SEASON 10: Due to massive budget(culling) restrictions, the Losers began season play with just 9 players, expecting their remaining stars to draw their fans and the money to buy replacement players in a hurrry. Unfortunately the fans for the most part stayed away, and players were injured or killed much faster than they could be replaced. Although the season was not a total loss, they would remain in regionals for at least another season for rebuilding. SWL SEASON 11: The fans outrage of the culling from the season before continued well into this season, with ticket prices dropping to all time lows. The Losers managed a 3/2/2 record, despite only seeing 11 players on the field for one game out of seven. Highlight of the season was nearly defeating the division's undefeated Black Crowes (who would go on to be Champions) with only 6 elves for the whole game. Unfortunately, the accomplished cheating skills of Coach OzJesting saw the Crowes equalize the score in the waning seconds of the game. Season 11 saw the first Twahnlow award for the Losers, with Whitey picking up the Bronze Boomerang for most completions in the divisions. SWL SEASON 12: Gumbi III, Symmetrical, and the mighty Sandune we're all lost due to preseason culling. The team will especially miss Sandune, but it is good to know he earned his proper place in the Hall of Fame before retirement. This season seemed to be a difficult one with only 9 elves on the starting roster, and 6 games to build, but the Losers overcame much diversity to claw their way to a tie for first play and advanced back to Conference. DanielCollins took top honors by bringing home the Bronze Ball for most TD's. SWL SEASON 13: A record of 4 wins and 3 losses was not nearly good enough to advance the Losers to Premier, but was enough to tie for 3rd place on the table and avoid relegation. No individual awards this season, but prolific thrower Beefygoodness became the second Loser to enter the Hall of Fame. Despite the loss of Miyuso (death by opponent's boot) and Smegish (retirement due to injuries) at the end of the season, the Losers were able to add talented young rookie Rabid Bogscum and are poised for success in Season 14. SWL SEASON 14: The Losers by brilliant coaching managed to win some games, draw others, and finish in the middle of a brutal pack of teams. Unfortunately the casulties kept piling up, with thrown rocks and pitch invasions killing players, as well as gangfouls and nasty blocks and crowdpushes. The apothacary hired by the Losers must have been on vacation because he failed his roll in 4 consecutive games. By the end of the season the Losers were reduced to 86 TR and only 5 players, and decided that spending another season being bashed by TR200 conference teams would be suicide. They have since regrouped, and hope to rebuild in the Fringe league. |
