From the highest peaks of the Southern Wastes, a band of marauding mountain men have descended to the cities and townships below to lay claim to the Southern Waste Blood-Bowl League crown. Led by their charismatic by psychotic leader Vladim Oslobahn, the men known as the Blue Mountain Dragons have come to town to smash your team and ravage your women folk. Team History Season 1 With a good start against the fancied Carlton United, the Dragons took the early lead in the 13 team Premier Division but soon floundered horribly to finish mid table in 7th resulting in relegation to the 1st Division. Media outlets report that Twahnlow Runner-Up Vladim Oslobahn is unhappy at this relegation and morale in the team is at an all time low. Season 2 The six team 1st Division season kicks off with the Darkfall Sinners failing to show for the first game at Mt Victorious. The Sinners are never heard from again and foul play is rumoured to have played a part. The Sinners were last seen heading up Lapstone Pass at the foot of the Blue Mountains but they never reached Mt Victorious. With the victory awarded to the Dragons, hopes are high but a mid-season sit down protest by Oslobahn due to the lack of quality of his concubines causes club turmoil. Management responds with the hiring of Zara the Slayer for the relegation threatened Dragons’ playoff match vs Chaosium Ad Nauseau. Oslobahn and Zara combine in more ways than one to slaughter the hapless Chaosium 5-0 and retain their 1st Division status. Season 3 With an expectation of promotion high before the season commenced, another season of wasted opportunities saw the Dragons stumble to 5th (down one spot from Season 2) and again in a playoff against relegation - this time against the highly rated Warlizards. A come from behind 2-1 win appeases the Dragons management but in all honesty it was the only game of the season in which the big guns for the Dragons fired together. Relegation staved off, but only just, and changes need to be made... Season 4 - CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON After previous disapointments, and a first round exit in the inaugural Gentlemen's Picnic, the Dragons were drawn up against previous SWL Grand Champions Carlton United. Against the odds, the Dragons win 2-1 and gain confidence. Following this, the Dragons defeat the Creepers and the Slumbering Skink before finally faltering to the Southern Scumbags. This set up a showdown against the Prince Regeants with a winner take all match. A timely pitch invasion, some brutal hitting and a mistake free running game, the Dragons dominate the Regeants 3-0 inflicting 6 casualties and taking the title! The first piece of silverware in Dragons history!! Season 5 - CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON Premier Division! The Dragons win an arduous campaign which got off to a great start with a 2-0 win against the Adelaide Anvils. A tie in Round 2 against the defending champions the Zen Adepts, and the campaign was well underway! A close win against the Maniac Mammallians and yet another tie against the Prince Reagents saw destiny placed in Vladim Oslobahn's hands in the final round against the Corporate Fraud Chaingang. A massive blizzard, unbelievable hitting and 4 touchdowns later saw the Dragons claim the Premier Division crown comprehensively. The Dragons have now only lost once in their past 12 games and sit on top of the heap that is the SWL! Season 6 A fairly forgettable season with the only wins being two forfeits over the two teams that went on to fight for the title. The team was competitive, but struggled as niggling injuries took their toll. The Dragons have been relegated to the Conference League and some say may have left their better days behind them. Season 7 A respectable placing of 3rd in the SWL South Conference with some memorable games. Our only two losses came against the eventual Conference Champions, the Black Crowes and the runners up Fyord Frollikars. The rebuilding phase of the Dragons continues with persistant rumours that founding captain Vladim Oslobahn is on the verge of retiring. Blax Landric continues to impress and collected a couple of Twahnlows for rushing and TD's. Season 8 A horrendous season as the Dragons go winless. Some massively big losses including scores such as 0-5, 1-5 and 0-4 (twice). Massive injury toll, niggling injuries, horrendous luck, this was the worst season in Dragons history. The passing of several high profile players occured as well leaving only Blax Landric and Vladim Oslobahn left from Season 1. Management is considering options during the off season Chunkathon.... Season 9 Faced with relegation to the Regional Leagues which, due to salary caps, would have met the forced retirement of Blax Landric and Vladim Oslobahn, management decides to withdraw from the SWL and travel with the Southern Wastes Veterans League. A wild league with bizarre silverware up for grabs, the Veterans League will be were the Dragons ply their trade from now on living on the memories of past glories... FINAL SWL Record 56 Matches (22/8/26 record) 70 TD's For, 90 TD's against 116 CAS's For, 158 Against Fan Factor: 13 TR: 209 (peaked at 224) Trophy Cabinet SWL Division 1 Champions - Season 4. SWL Premier Division Champions - Season 5.

Captained by our arch rival, Duke Snakefield Fyord Frollikars who we have met 6 times now. The most memorable was this match in which there were 3 Pitch Invasions, a Blitz and the Frollikars came from 0-2 down to lead 3-2 before we tied it up. Perhaps one of the better / funnier matches this coach has been involved in. |
