cause sleep lost the fight
to a rumbling tummie
you need something yummie.

Downstairs you sneak
cold floorboards creak,
is someone else there
to give you a scare?

In the enveloping dark
a shape stands stark,
polished metal bulk
a white enamel hulk.

Crossing the floor
strange sounds and more
escape the fridge door,
then suddenly a roar!

Reaching to handle up far
you pull the fridge door ajar,
out spills a sickening glare
with widening eyes you stare.

Behind a lasagna lump
they skitter and jump,
little shapes so fickle
battling over a pickle.

In the middle of the bout
a shout rings out:
"Dodge this you bastard!"
followed by a splash of custard.

Just as someone spills the cream
one of the shapes lets loose a scream:
"C'mon lads, prove yourselves!"

The fridge is full of elves!
