A life as a sideshow hustler in the frozen wastes of Norsca is not for the faint of heart. Nor was it for Barneveld "Barney" Van Bearstein, who was not especially faint of heart but was slightly faint of brain and rather more grasping than his meagre cerebral capacity allowed. Thus, when the local Bloodbowl team rolled into town (literally - they were chasing a runaway Deathroller) and back out again, he knew he'd found his calling.

Gathering together the dregs of the local bar and pushing them through a punishing regime of reading Agar Strongthews' "How to Become a Manly Man Without Really Trying" series of illegal engravings, he set out to conquer the Bloodbowl world. Or at least those parts of it willing to pay for the privilege of being conquered.
