Game 8: The whole game is against us so why do we even bother? We had the ball, oh Chaos knocked us on our butts and scored, what a surprise. They had the ball. Even their incomplete passes just bounce to the thrower, so why try? They score, whatever. Started ignoring ball, it was pointless anyways. Lor got in a good whomp, but the doctor just came in and fixed it so that was pointless too. They scored again, but by this point, we're just watching em run while we try in vain to stomp on one. For the final line up, we trew a few punches, then one old and sickly looking beastman just fell down and had a heart attack from the exertion of beating us up all day. Glad the game is over, going home to listen to Linkin Park. Game 7:Another game, another death.. Zar succumbed to the fury of the undead forces. It feels like we are in one unwinnable game after another. This time well trained undead. Usual tactics would be to let them come to us and wait for them to make mistakes, but somehow the blocking technique was far better on this undead squad. We received the ball in the first half, but it was all we could do to keep it out of our own end zone. The second half was a comedy of errors, but in one moment of sun, the ball popped to where our brave runner could pick it up and huck it down field. With the assist of a scrambling lineman, our blitzer barreled through a skeleton and ran in for the score. Game 6: KOR! You will be avenged! Sadly, our newly trained trollslayer was slain by an angry mob after trading words about the stingy gate. The rest of the game was a daze, as our forces had no place being on the field with the legions of chaos. Grimly, we head back to the training grounds, trying to figure out how we will raise the funds to aquire another slayer. Game 5: We walked into the pitch ready to bury some friends and drink to tales of their deeds. None of us wanted to face the terrible beasts, save for the two orangebeards, but we've learned to expect that of them. We were thankful they were there, as they showed us some techniques for downing the huge creatures, and once they'd tripped a few up, the rest of the boys got into the spirit. We somehow held fast through the first half, and even threatened to score, but at the whistle we were just happy to all report to the locker room. In the second half, we bravely found a path through the opposition, using our superior blocking skills to confound them. Our longbeards stood in the face of death, while our runner blazed his trail upfield. The ogres gained some momentum for a moment, but we used the opportunity to wheel the scrum around them and break free. We lined up after the score, but while the kick was in the air, Kaz noticed the scoreboard was ticking down, and led the backfield in an ordered manner towards the exits. We assumed the shouting from the front line was cheers of encouragement, and after a few pints after the game, all was forgiven. Apparently you learn fast facing the lumbering face of death, as three team members are showing off some new tricks on the field. Game 4: In the first half, the undead bashed their way to a last second goal. We managed to kill some cannon fodder, but were not able to make a significant dent in their forces. We attempted to cage our way to a tying goal, but could not stop the mummies from destroying our cage and prying the ball loose for another score. We came close to getting the ball in the end zone in the final seconds, but the clock ran down on us with a mummy closing in on our ball carrier, and we came up short. (no pun intended) We will need to write the league about the officiating in this game, as two of our players were sent off for extremely minor infractions, whereas the other team seemed to be jabbing us with sharpened bones quite frequently. One of our linemen had a stunning revelation after the game. If he helps his teammates block, he'll get whomped in the head less! Finally, one of them gets a new thought through their thick skull. Game 3: Several early injuries seemed to take the fight out of the boys. We managed to get the numbers closer to even, but not before the vamps had scored a few times. Unable to get the ball into a positive situation, the team seemed to stick to beating harmlessly on the opponent (who had far better luck causing himself injury). Morale seems to be an issue with this coach, and we have informed him that there will be repercussions if the team continues to behave poorly in bad situations. After three games, we have yet to see any improvement out of this lot. This week's practice: passing drills. Game 2: Dwarf vs Dwarf is a slow bashy game in its purest. We managed to eek out a 4 turn score, then held our opponent at bay the remainder of the game. The ball came loose close to the end zone in the final moments, but we were able to keep it on the ground until the final whistle. A surprisingly low body count - Dwarves are tough to put down. Game 1: Failure. Poor knowledge of the team leads to poor D is the first half. We score a miracle TD in the 2nd, but a tired misclick eliminates the chance of saving the tie. |
