The swarthy men of Wasim Galib (Blessing of Victory) seem always to have their minds on more than the game. Accustomed to hardship and wanderers' ways, every teammate finds a strange peace in the frenzied battle on the pitch. Their war cries are fierce, and each opponent that falls is given a solemn and sorrowful oath asking their forbearance when next they should meet, even if that be in the afterlife, or the next life. Each victory heralds a celebration of drunken debauchery far out of keeping with the players' normally serious appearance. Each defeat is taken as a hard lesson offered to all: learn, grow, and find strength in the darkest times. These are the ways of those who seek to become haroun (exalted) in the dark eyes of their brethren. May we all find the path of mas'ud!
