Rules of Evolution The Principles of Evolution 1. Only players at the start of the evolutionary path (see Evolutionary Path) may be hired. 2. When a player dies, he evolves a level. If there is no space for him to evolve into, he waits in the genepool until there is a vacancy. 3. When a player dies with 51, 76, or 176 spp he evolves an extra 1, 2 or 3 levels. 4. If a player is retired for any reason, he is removed from the evolutionary path and becomes extinct. Evolutionary Path Players progress down the path of evolution, choosing whether to go down the Throwing branch or the Running branch. Summary Click on icons in path to see more information. Extinct If a player is retired for any reason, he is removed from the evolutionary path and becomes extinct.
Rookies Rookies are the first step on the evolutionary path. They are regular linemen, usually skilled up with Tackle and Fend.
Pros Pros are slightly more evolved rookies. They've come back with more experience, but are still just linemen. However, they might fill more specialised roles within the team (with skills like Strip Ball and Wrestle).
Throwers The first step down the Throwing branch of the Evolutionary Path, players who have evolved into Throwers will likely still be used as normal linemen, but with skills like Sure Hands and Dump Off they are useful ballcarriers.
Passers Throwers may throw, but Passers pass. The focus for the next step on the Throwing branch of the Evolutionary Path is actually passing the ball, with Accurate (and maybe even HMP) helping.
Runners Runners are the first stage of evolution for those following the Running Path. They often develop as thorns in the opponent's side, with dodge and side step.
Sprinters Sprinters are more specialised Runners, with a focus on scoring touchdowns. The usual running skills are important - Dodge and Side Step - but they may also take Sure Feet and Sprint. Berserkers Berserkers have usually given up on the idea of throwing the ball, but remain strong ball-carriers. However, their focus is usually on hitting opponents by this point. Blitzers Blitzers are one stage more evolved than Berserkers. More than just hitting the other guys, they are masters of the surgical strike, stealing the ball for other players on the team to recover. Wolves Players take on a radical change in form when they evolve to the Wolf stage. Stronger and sturdier, but with less natural agility, they become the enforcers of the team. Hulks Hulks are rare, if only because Wolves are harder to kill than other evolutionary forms on the Path. However, they are the road-blocks of the team, around which the rest of the players can pivot on defence and offence. Trolls The ultimate form of evolution. Once a player attains the form of a Snow Troll, they have reached the pinnacle. Their stay there is usually brief, but glorious! After death, some may choose to reincarnate back as a rookie, while others choose retirement.
