| The Marienburg Mariners, or Bluejackets as they are more commonly known to their fans, were formed by a group of sailors from the famous city-state of Marienburg who found themselves out of work and short of money. They decided to form a Blood Bowl team in the hope of making some coin and perhaps even winning a few amateur tournaments. Little did they know that a harsh life on the seas would serve as such great preparation for competitive Blood Bowl. A lifetime of hard work on deck endowed their players with considerable strength and balance, a hardy spirit and a determined attitude. As a result of this The Mariners enjoyed a good start to their early Blood Bowl life, winning lots of local fans and even a few matches. Eventually The Mariners won the support and financial backing of some of Marienburg's wealthiest merchants and shortly after the NAF collapsed, it was decided the team would go pro and travel the world playing Blood Bowl. Furthermore, the team's merchant backers could advance their own interests by following the team around, buying, selling, trading and exploring new markets. |
