Background
The Crewe Railroaders were formed in November 1984 by Gary Delaney. A squad of 29 players traveled to take part in their first ever game - a pre-season friendly against the Leamington Royals in Wythall Park, Solihull, Birmingham on June 2nd 1985, losing 13-50. The 1990 was to be the Railroaders final season. It was to be a losing one with a record of 3-7-0. Gary Delaney had returned to the club but was unable to help a team in obvious decline. In 1991 it was time for a change. Gary Delaney formed a new team – the South Cheshire Refugees. He persuaded some of his old team mates from the Manchester Heroes days to join along with the remnants of the Railroaders. There were even 4 players who flew in from the Isle of Man for games. The Refugees played for three seasons, the first two seasons qualifying for the play-offs. By 1993 the Refugees were struggling to field a team all season, only winning 3 games. 1994 was the first time in 9 years there was to be no American Football played in South Cheshire, it was the end of an era. It was 9 years that many of us still remember fondly for many different reasons.

In 2010, Former Railroaders got together and agreed that Crewe needed an American Football team again. These veterans were quickly joined by some newer players and more and more players and played out their first season in 2012, where they finished with a 2-8 record. In 2013, the team had another strong batch of new recruits and changes in personnel, but were still unable to improve on their 2-8 from the previous season.

The team were losing faith, until the Messiah walked through the doors. Former star DT Gavin Sutton (Valen) returned. "Its time to take this club to the next level" he said.

"To better ourselves we must join the NWFL!!!!!"
