THE ETERNAL SMURF

Johan and Peewit could not believe their ears; these little people that bounce around like kids are actually 100 years old! Papa Smurf with his white beard is the oldest of all: ?I had just turned 542 when the chanterelle mushrooms came up last June!? He said that in October 1958 when the story first appeared in the weekly ?Le Journal de Spirou?. So that makes him - 542. Smurfs never get older. So Baby Smurf will always be a baby. And the Smurfette, well no-one asks how old she is. It?s not polite.

WHAT THE SMURF IS A SMURF ?

Far, very far from here, in a little village full of mushroom-shaped houses live the Smurfs. The little characters are three apples high, have blue skin and are dressed in white trousers and a cap. Yet they are a happy, easy-going bunch - give or take one or two.

DO YOU SPEAK SMURF ?

The Smurfs speak a very strange language. Some words are replaced by ?Smurf?, as well as some of the verbs. Instead of saying, ?I caught a cold in the nose?, they would say, ?I smurfed a smurf in the nose?.
