Outcasts among their Wood Elf compatriots, the Wardancer Academicals display traits that would be considered unusual even among their Dark Elf half-brethren. Descended from lone Wood Elves cast out of one of the largest and most elusive gatherings of Asrai centuries ago, the kindred from which the Wardancer Academicals are drawn settled in the sparsest woodland territories, bordering townships constructed by men and dwarves, and raided frequently by Orcs.

As woodland retreated and urban dwellings expanded, the kindred found themselves dwelling with greater frequency on land used as graveyard and burial ground by their mortal neighbours. As the Academicals grew more distant from their Asrai kin, so generations of elves lost their Loren names and adopted those found on the graves at the edges of their homes. It is thus that many league commissioners have mistakenly opened tournaments to what they considered a human team, only to find themselves playing host to squads that bring with them the force of nature.

Having dwelt in such proximity to a wealth of other races for centuries, the Wardancer Academicals hold an unusual affinity for humans and dwarves. Their exposure to human burial customs, however, has developed in them a deep-seated and near instinctive hatred towards the undead. In previous tournaments, the Academicals have been known to ignore the ball entirely when confronted with the unliving, and focus solely on their complete and absolute destruction.
