The Drakwold Devils were born out of desperation. The traders and travellers who relied on the gloomy trials of the Drakwold Forest to make a living were spending more money on mercenary protection than they could make. The crafty trader Vertigious Speckle decided to spend the money setting up a game of Blood Bowl between two local teams in a clearing at the edge of a major trade route through the Drakwold. The noise soon drew the herd of beasts out of the depths of the forests and into the clearing. As Vertigious watched on, from the safety of his armoured cart, his plan came to fruition right before his eyes. The beasts charged straight for the pitch, ignoring the crowd they dispensed with their weapons and entered the fray. Quickly picking up the need for overwhelming violence on a Blood Bowl pitch the Drakwold Devils were born. Seeing the potential money to be gained Vertigious Speckle promised fresh meat and ale in abundance if the Devils would travel with him and take their violent temperament to the Blood Bowl minors.
