Massively strong but horribly clumsy, Thoro is a paladin, fighting for truth and justice with his giant...sledgehammer? (After almost cutting his own head off once swinging a sword, he decided to avoid using anything sharp...)
An elven archer of considerable skill, due in part to being deaf and not distracted by shouts and screams around her.
Started as an elven ranger, wielding twin short swords. Became possessed by an ancient evil spirit, forcing him to commit heinous crimes against his will. Once finally freed of the evil influence, mobs still hunted Strider for "his" crimes. He would never find peace until he was magically transformed into a human woodsman, who was able to lose himself into the forrest and anonymity.
Dalvo is a battlerager, a dwarven berserker swinging a waraxe even larger than he is. He's able to swing such a monster after drinking a special potion known only as "Gutbuster", the ingredients of which are better left unknown by those with weak stomachs...
Zahn was a monk, who forgoes weapons and armor in favor of fists and dodges. A short lived, but spectacularly vivid, career ensued...
Farsi was a simple farmer, who one day walked out to his field on a foggy day. When the mist lifted, he wasn't in his field, but had been magically transported to a land of vampires and werewolves. Don't you hate it when that happens?
Cuchillo is a master of all weapons who doesn't know the first thing about fighting. Flashing highly polished weapons in a whirldwind all about, showing masterful control and balance, timing and precision, Cuchillo plays to the crowd. Usually he's able to intimidate any bullies with his weapon displays, but if push comes to shove, he's a lover, not a fighter.
Jem is a cat burglar, specializing in sneaking into an open 2nd story window to steal valuables, then leaving magical illusions of the items in question to fool the owner into not discovering the theft til long after she has escaped and sold her new "birthday gift" to the black market...
Noghri is a little man with delusions of grandeur, believing himself to be a true master wizard. However, as spectacular as his spells appear, they're all illusions, though this confused midget truly believes in the power of his spells. This sometimes causes rather comical, sometimes dangerous, situations as his friends have to save him from himself!
Eben is an archmage of great power, who uses his skills for personal amusement and to impress the ladies. However, he tends to rub the wrong people the wrong way, leading to many attempts at his life. None succeed, but they usually do manage to force him to relocate to someplace new to woo ladies who aren't suddenly terrified of his magic.
Lishan is actually my brother's favorite character, and I don't know that much about him, other than he's a bookworm wizard always in search of the secrets of existence in scrolls written thousands of years ago. Very stereotypical, rather boring, but not bad for my kid brother's first attempt (he was only 8 at the time).
Fritz is my all-time favorite character. He started as a simple novice in the magical arts, and over the years I witnessed his gradual accumulation of magical power and artificats, establishling his own college of magic, until he finally achieved the exalted status of archmage in the eyes of his peers. Having grown a very old man by this time, Fritz delved into the forbidden necromantic arts, attempting to discover ways to prolong his life to continue teaching his students. This led to his magical transformation into an archlich, an undead creature. Zealous religious leaders now call for his destruction as an abomination, but so far nobody's had the guts to try to attack him in his college, surrounded by his students, some of whom are nearing archmage status themselves.
