Author of the first manual for fencing with a rapier, His Treatise on the Science of Arms and Philosophy and influential to this day. He distilled a number of previously existing guards and parries down to a few quintessential stances and paved the way for those who followed.
Another English master and author of the treatise with my favorite title of the lot, Schoole of the Noble and Worthy Science of Defence.
While more noted as an illustrator, Albrecht Durer made his own Fechtbuch in 1520.
Author of Regole do molti cavagliereschi esserciti - or literally "Rules of Many Chivalrous Armies." Ghisliero is an Italian who learned fencing from Spanish masters and gives us an interesting perspective on what is generally considered to be an obscure style.
Author of Kunst des Fechten, an influential work on longsword.
Author of Dell'Arte Edell Vso Della Scherma, one of the greatest fencing manuals every written, thanks to its clarity and detail of instructions and illustrations.
Author of a very short treatise on the Destreza, or much confused and maligned Spanish school of the 16th century.
Author of Libro que trata de la philosophia de las armas y de su destreza, y de la aggresion y defension christiana (Book that deals with the philosophy of arms and of its art, and of the Christian offense and defense), published in 1569.
