Former combat mek in the robot forces of the Evermind Omnius he is found by the Ginaz mercenaries after a battle. Damaged and incapable of fighting they wipe his main programming apart from his fighting abilities and then reprogrammed without his loyalty to Omnius. He is then used to train new mercenaries to combat fight his former master's forces. Since Omnius believes his combats meks are perfectly designed for their purpose he doesn't upgrade their design making Chirox almost identical in design to the combat meks used for the remainder of the Butlerian Jihad. Among the Swordmasters trained by Chirox are the Legendary Jool Noret and his father Zon Noret.

Although Chirox already was an efficient fighter due to Omnius' programming; his fighting skills were enhanced by Jool Noret to allow him "learn" from his opponents and continously improve his abilities. However during one of Zon Noret's military leaves on Ginaz he was inadvertently killed by Chirox. When sparring with Chirox unknowningly activated the advanced training progams created by his son by commanding Chirox to "fight without restraint" unprepared for the sudden increase in skill, subsequently was struck down in the presence of Jool Noret inflaming to become the greatest Sword Master of Ginaz.

After decades of service the fanatics of the Cult of Serena lured Chirox to Salusa Secundus to "reward" him for his service to humanity with the intention of destroying him. Nar Trig a former student lead this effort and attempted defeat Chirox, however Chirox vastly outmatched his ungrateful pupil and was forced to kill him by decapitatation rather than be destroyed. Chirox's companion Istian Goss another former and now colleague at the Ginaz school was prepared to defend Chirox to the death from the mob, but in order to save his friend and the prevent loss of human life of the cultists, Chirox chose to sacrifice his own life and shut himself down.

Istian then stood guard over his remains for an indeterminate period. He was the only one to recognise that Chirox making the choice against his inbuilt programming was evidence of not just "intelligent programming" but free will, and implication of a soul.


Chirox Mk. I was tragically destroyed by the Buttercup Buzzards in the first match of the season. Hopefully the new and improved model will serve the team better.

d. 10,191. Duncan Idaho was the swordmaster for House Atreides and taught Paul Atreides in swordsmanship. He spent seven years on Ginaz and fought in the Battle of Ginaz when they were attack by Grumman. The Atreides saved Duncan from slavery and torture on Giedi Prime and ever since has been the most loyal man in the House guard. When the House moved to Arrakis, Duncan led one of the first waves to the desert planet. Once on Arrakis he made contact with the Fremen to help make allies of them for the Duke. He was excepted by the Fremen of Sietch Tabr. He was sent to stay with Stilgar in the Sietch in a duel alliance with the Fremen. When suspicion was brought against Jessica, Leto called him back to spy on her. The Fremen resented this. The night of the dinner party in Arrakeen, Duncan was ordered to escort one of the women home, while out he became drunk on Spice beer and made a scene in the Residency. He let the suspicion against Jessica out. He was contacted by Dr. Yeuh to rescue Paul and Jessica in the desert the night of the Harkonnen attack. He died defending Paul at one of the botanical testing stations.
