Ouch. A frightening prospect to face up against. Almost lost his UFC contract before beating Ian 'Machine' Freeman, who took an accidental finger in the eye, but hey, it happens.
Since then he has gone on to be an excellent heavyweight, who for his size, is surprizingly fast and able to get in and out before he can take one back. Usually enough to do the job.
Lost the title to Tim Sylvia in UFC 61. Don't know what happened there. He started off understandably chopping Sylvia's legs and making inroad, then for some reason just stopped, nothing from his corner. Without the low kicks Sylvia managed to cause some problems. Late on in the fight went back to the low kicks almost accidentally and again started causing Sylvia some real problems. He stopped after, and I'm certain of this, Sylvia appeared to signal with his hand (the same wave when you've been given a low blow, this wasn't,) to raise his shots. He did, Sylvia got comfortable again and the match was a gonna.

2 extra gears over the rest in the middleweight bracket.
Great thinker, with a deceptively good looping right hook.
He hates to get hit, who doesn't, and likes to get in and out. Great control.

Pound for pound, the top UFC talent. Potentially the very best Welterweight champion the UFC has ever seen.
A monster at 5' 9" and 170lbs, with decent stand-up but devastating ground-work with the strength to dominate. This guy could be the UFC legend of legends.
Now that's a jinx if ever I've heard one.
PS. He kicked the crap out of Gracie. Good fighter but let's face it, he brought in the unknown element (Brazilian Jujitsu) to take on a bunch of brawlers. Since then, evolution has made atleast shoot-defence a necessity. Hughes has much more than that.
Boom.
The uhm...'spokesman' of the UFC. A firm crowd favourite and best friend of Ken Shamrock.
Lost to Chuck Liddel but when he gets a rematch really needs to go for the take-down. Tried to take the stand-up to the best KO power in the UFC and got destroyed.
Light-heavyweight belt will see his face again.
Finally, battered Shamrock for the third time. Now's his chance.
2nd fight ended in a bit of the same. I think he's admitted defeat on that one.

First Blocker to get MB. Uncanny for the light-heavyweight monster that is Chuck
Sobral - who?
A true sportsman ;)
Hammered Robbie Lawler(a dangerous fighter), lost to Joe Riggs and more recently Sean Sherk but with incredible flexibility, the ability to win a fight in guard and the sheer determination to win, he could still be a force.
Oh boy, destroyed Josh Neer in UFC 62. Peppered him, no big swings, just peppered the crap out of him.

What more can you say about THE legend of UFC, other than LEGEND.
An awesome Greco-Roman fighter, who also has devastating stand-up as we saw when he took out the KO of UFC - Chuck Liddel.
To lose his final match(the decider against Liddel) on a stumble, is a gutting way for my favourite fighter to retire, but he took it like a man and walked tall. If only we could all do that.
10/04/07 - Well the god that is Couture is back as the heavyweight champ. This guy is trully a legend.

Contrary to his position, Matt Serra is an incredibly well rounded fighter and if not for a couple of unlucky fights (anyone can get caught) I think he would be competing.
A very intelligent fighter and a sublime corner-man. If he doesn't win UF4, he definitely will be picked up as a highly competent and strategic corner-man.
If he fights like he corners, UF4 is in the bag baby.
10/04/07 - Well he does fight like he corners and now he is the Welterweight Champ after a monster against St Pierre.
