Rod Steelman has been with Coach Mack Shanahan since before the NAFL team was organized. Steelman was the star catcher for the New Rules Football team of the Mannerheim Men, the only player allowed to use his hands, before they were reorganized into the original style of play. Coach Shanahan new he had to keep those hands and the speed that was hidden in the legs, since in NRF the Catcher does not generally leave the area known as the Box that surrounds the “goal.” Once the team converted its style of play Coach Shanahan knew that he had a talented guy at this position.

Mikahl Puntar was regarded as a top free agent thrower and was being pursued by a handful of teams when he was approached my Coach Mack Shanahan. Known as “The Slithering” because of his ability to slip through lines and get off the pass downfield like a snake slithering through the grass. Coach Shanahan approached the young Puntar and offered him a job and Puntar took it on the spot. Puntar is regarded as a true leader on the team and his teammates have great confidence that he will lead them to great ends.
