The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is a particle accelerator of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) that lies under the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva, Switzerland. When it is completed, the LHC will become the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator. When it is finally switched on, it may create micro black holes called strangelets, which if uncontrolled will consume the entire world.

Dolly (July 5, 1996 – February 14, 2003), a ewe, was the first mammal to have been successfully cloned from an adult somatic cell. It is thought that Dolly suffered from premature aging, as when she was born, the age of her precursor cells was already six years old.
