In Canada's glorious punk history, few embodied the greatness of the 1978-82 era like The Subhumans (not to be confused with the UK Subhumans). They lived by their ideology, with one member's eventual involvement in an urban guerilla group, "Direct Action," leading to a lengthly jail term. Direct Action was active in the 1980s targeting facilities that posed serious threats to the environment and companies that directly contributed to the nuclear arms race, among others. Born, raised, and infected in Tucson, AZ, Fish has turned heads, blew minds, and tickled funnybones for a couple of decades. Formed in 1995 to stimulate a communion between literacy and punk/metal, BloodHag created the genre of Edu-core and operate under the motto "The faster you go deaf, the more time you have to read!" BloodHag's minute-long songs have the common theme of esteemed authors such as George Orwell and Philip K. Dick, while the music roars along with the blunt force of bands like Brujeria, Pantera, and Sepultura. Their live shows include between-song mini-lectures and the ceremonial pelting of the unsuspecting audience with books!
