Martin Frobisher was one of the first explorers to search for the Northwest Passage to the Orient. Raised in London by his uncle, Frobisher left early for a sea-farer's life and became a well-known navigator and explorer. Convinced of the existence of a Northwest Passage, he secured substantial support for three voyages in search of it.

Frobisher's first voyage was in 1576. With two ships, the Michael and the Gabriel he sailed around Baffin Island and discovered an inlet (now known as Frobisher Bay) that he believed to be the Northwest Passage. Landing near Resolution Island, he named the land "Queen Elizabeth's Forelande." In an encounter with the local Inuit, five sailors were killed. He then landed at "North Forelande", the eastern tip of Hall Island, and claimed the land in the name of the Queen. From there he set sail along the waterway which he believed was the route to the Orient and to which he gave the name "Frobisher's Streights." Returning to England with an Inuit captive, he also brought back ore that was mistakenly identified as gold.

Ensuing difficulties, including the collapse of financial backing ended Frobisher's quest for the Northwest Passage. Although he did not reach the Orient or find "riches" in the new land, his voyages did fuel much of Europe's future interest in Arctic exploration. Following his Arctic journeys, Frobisher had various commands, including that of vice-admiral in Sir Francis Drake's 1585-86 expedition to the West Indies.

Or so they thought. In reality, his exposure to Chaos allowed him to infiltrate several adventurers ships and sink them, finally joining the AAA.

Robert Edwin Peary was an American explorer and Naval officer who led the first expedition to the North Pole. Born in Cresson, Pennsylvania, he was employed as a land surveyor and draftsman for the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey before being commissioned as a civil engineer in the U.S. Navy in 1881. It was while working on a canal project in steamy Nicaragua that Peary read a study on the exploration of Greenland and his interest in the Arctic began. He was able to arrange it so that he could pursue his Arctic explorations while he was on leave from the Navy.

Or so they thought. In reality, he was shipping corpses to be eaten or resurrected by the Neanderthal Necromancers. For his hard work, his ascension to Chaos was completed.

Vilhjalmur Stefansson (born November 3, 1879 of Icelandic parents) was a Canadian ethnologist and explorer who discovered many previously unknown native tribes and territory. Studying and living among the Inuit of the Canadian Arctic, he contributed a great deal of insight and knowledge about indigenous cultures and their unique adaptations to the Arctic environment. He also, ironically enough, came to realize the wealth of natural resources in the Arctic and actively promoted economic development in the polar regions. The author of many books, Stefansson was affiliated with Dartmouth College from 1947 until his death.

Or so they thought. He didn't die, but with his exposure to Chaos, become an evil beastman, pledging his allegiance to his teammates.
