As the one of the oldest known Serial Killers Elizabeth Bathory is the Team Captain. Elected by the other team members not just for her nobility, but her cruelty.

About the year 1610, the castle of Csejta was the residence of Elizabeth Bathory, sister to the King of Poland, and wife of a rich and powerful magnate. Like most ladies of her day, she was surrounded by a troop of young persons, generally the daughters of poor but noble parents, who lived in honourable servitude, in return for which their education was cared for, and their dowry secured. Elizabeth was of a severe and cruel disposition, and her handmaidens led no joyous life. Slight faults are said to have been punished by most merciless tortures. One day, as the lady of Csejta was adoring at her mirror those charms which that faithful monitor told her were fast waning, she gave way to her ungovernable temper, excited, perhaps, by the mirror's unwelcome hint, and struck her unoffending maid with such force in the face as to draw blood. As she washed from her hand the stain, she fancied that the part which the blood had touched grew whiter, softer, and as it were, more young. Imbued with the dreams of the age, she believed that accident had revealed to her what so many philosophers had wasted years to discover, -- that in a maiden's blood she possessed the elixir vitae, the source of never failing youth and beauty! Remorseless by nature, she and now urged by that worst of woman's weaknesses, vanity, no sooner did the thought flash across her brain than her resolution was taken; the life of her luckless handmaiden seemed as nought compared with the rich boon her murder promised to secure.
Elizabeth, however, was wary as she was cruel. At the foot of the rock on which Csejta stands, was a small cottage inhabited by two old women, and between the cellar of this cottage and the castle was a subterranean passage, known only to one or two persons, and never used but in times of danger. With the aid of these crones and her steward, the poor girl was led through the secret passage to the cottage, where the horrid deed was accomplished, and the body of the murderess washed in virgin's blood! Not satisfied with the first essay, at different intervals, by the aid of these accomplices and the secret passage, no less than three hundred maidens were sacrificed at the shrine of vanity and superstition. Several years had been occupied in this pitiless slaughter, and no suspicion of the truth was excited, though the greatest amazement pervaded the country at the disappearance of so many persons.
At last, however, Elizabeth called into play against her, two passions stronger even than vanity or cunning -- love and revenge became interested in the discovery of the mystery. Among the victims of Csejta was a beautiful maiden who was beloved by and betrothed to a young man of the neighbourhood. In despair at the loss of his mistress, he followed her traces with such perseverance, that, in spite of the hitherto successful caution of the murderess, he penetrated the bloody secrets of the castle, and burning for revenge, flew to Presburg, boldly accused Elizabeth Bathory of murder before the Palatine, in open court, and demanded judgment against her.
So grave an accusation, so openly preferred against an individual of such high rank, demanded the most serious attention, and George Thurzo, the then Palatine, undertook to investigate the affair in person. Proceeding immediately to Csejta, before the murderess of her accomplices had any idea of the accusation, he discovered the still warm body of a young girl whom they had been destroying as the Palatine approached, and had not had time to dispose of before he apprehended them. The rank of Elizabeth mitigated her punishment to imprisonment for life, but her assistants were burned at the stake

She is thought to have murdered as many as fifteen people and a number of these died while she was living in Sunderland. Born in Low Moorsley, Mary Ann arrived in Sunderland after living for a number of years in Somerset and Cornwall. She found work as a nurse at Sunderland Infirmary at the bottom of Chester Road (now part of Sunderland University). In August 1865 she married George Ward a former patient from the Infirmary.
Her first husband had died some months before of gastric fever, which had similar symptoms to arsenic poisoning. The following year Ward died in similar circumstances. In 1866 she went to work as a housekeeper to James Robinson, a widower, who she later married. She left three years later three of Robinson's children and one of her own had died from gastric fever. The suspicious deaths of those close to Mary Ann continued until she was finally arrested in West Auckland after the death of a stepson. On the 25th March 1873 Mary Ann Cotton was hanged at Durham Jail. After Mary Ann's execution children in Sunderland had a new rhyme.
<b>Mary Ann Cotton She's dead and forgotten She lies in a grave With her bones all rotten Sing, sing, oh, what can I sing? Mary Ann Cotton is tied up wi'string Where, where? up in the air sellin' black puddens a penny a pair.<b>

Rosemary and her husband Fred West, were accused of murdering 10 women and young girls over a 20 year period ending in 1987. They took great joy in luring away vulnerable runaways with offers of rides, lodging or jobs as nannies. Once in their clutches inside the "House of Horrors", the young women were stripped, bound with tape, raped, tortured, then killed, some were dismembered and buried. The killer couple was arrested at their home, 25 Cromwell Street, Gloucester, in 1994.
Police, armed with a search warrant, dug up the remains of their 16 year old daughter, Heather, who vanished in 1987. Further excavations under the house and in garden produced eight more female bodies.
One more body was found under the kitchen of a former home at 25 Midland Road, Gloucester, including Rosemary's stepdaughter, Charmaine.

Fred hanged himself in Winston Green prison in Birmingham, on New Years Day in 1995. He faced two further charges of murdering his ex wife and a baby-sitter and burying them in fields near his former home. Police believe that Fred probably killed more women.

Rosemary, who admitted being a prostitute, still maintains her innocence. However, on;

22nd November 1995, she was convicted of 10 murders. The authorities are investigating the whereabouts of nine other missing women who frequented their home.

The judge, Mr Justice Mantell, sentenced her to life imprisonment, saying: "If attention is paid to what I think, you will never be released."

The Lord Chief Justice later decided that West should spend at least 25 years in prison, but in July in 1997 Home Secretary Jack Straw subjected West to a whole life tariff.

October 1996 the house at 25 Cromwell Street, along with the house next door, 23 Cromwell Street, were demolished and the site made into a garden and pathway. Every brick was crushed and every timber was burnt to discourage souvenir hunters.

27th September 2001 - A documentary filmmaker has called for an investigation into claims that serial killer Fred West may have murdered 20 more people. David Monaghan said West confessed the additional murders to a social worker assigned to him in prison and repeated them in a yet unaired TV show. Gloucestershire police said there was not enough evidence to investigate the claims and are trying to block the airing of the interview.

West, still maintains her innocence but said she was ready to spend the rest of her life in prison.

Annie Walters and Amelia Sach, the "Finchley Baby Farmers" became the first women to be hanged in the new women's prison at Holloway on the 3rd of February 1903 by William Billington and Henry Pierrepoint..

Amelia Sach ran a "nursing home" which offered a haven for unmarried mothers to have their babies in and which, for a fee, claimed it would care for the infant afterwards. Sach told her clients that she could arrange for foster parents for the babies for an additional fee. Once the mother had left the baby with Sach, she would pass it over to 54 year old Annie Walters who would murder it, either with a dose of Chlorodyne (a morphine based drug that causes asphyxia in babies or by suffocation, if the Chlorodyne didn’t work, before disposing of the body in the Thames or burying it on a rubbish dump. Walters was neither literate or very bright and in 1902 decided take one of the babies home. She lived in rented accommodation and her landlord was a police officer. She told him that she was looking after the little girl while her parents were on holiday and his wife helped her change the baby's nappy. The policeman's wife noted that the little girl was actually a boy. A few days later, Mrs Walters told the couple that the child had died in its sleep and she seemed genuinely upset about his death. A few months later she did the same thing again and this time her landlord became suspicious when this second child died. She was duly arrested and charged with the murder of the child. Further bodies were discovered from the information Walters gave the police and Amelia Sach was also now implicated in these murders. The police had enough evidence to charge them both with murder. Many items of baby's clothing were found by the police when they searched Sach's home and they may have murdered as many as 20 children.

They were tried at the Old Bailey on the 15th and 16th of January 1903, before Mr. Justice Darling. It took the jury 40 minutes to find them both guilty. They were taken back to Holloway and were hanged there by William Billington and Henry Pierrepoint on Tuesday the 3rd of February 1903.. On the day of her execution Amelia Sach was in a state of virtual collapse in the condemned cell. Pierrepoint recorded in his diary the following "These two women were baby farmers of the worst kind and they were both repulsive in type. One was two pounds less than the other (in weight) and there was a difference of two inches in the drop which I allowed. One (Sachs) had a long thin neck and the other (Walters) a short neck, points which I was bound to observe in the arrangement of the rope. They had to be literally carried to the scaffold and protested to the end against their sentences". This was the last double female hanging in Britain.

Kill Count~ 91+
Maria had a sister called Delfina and these two deadly sisters ran the bordello from hell in Guanajuato, Mexico. They recruited their prostitutes through help wanted ads and killed them when they stopped pleasing the clientele. Sometimes they even killed the johns who showed up to the brothel with big wads of cash. After too many unexplained disappearances, the cops raided the premises where they found the bodies of eleven males, eighty females, and several fetuses.

Maria Gruber, Irene Leidolf, Stephanija Meyer, and Waltraud Wagner made up one of the most unusual crime teams in 20th Century Europe. The four Austrian women were nurses working at Lainz General Hospital in Vienna, and together murdered scores of patients. They were known as the Lainz Angels of Death.

Wagner, 23, was the first to kill a patient with an overdose of morphine in 1983. She recruited Gruber, 19, and Leidolf, 21, and eventually the "house mother" of the group, 43-year-old Stephanija Mayer.

However, lethal injection didn't provide enough excitement, and soon the self-styled "death pavilion" had invented their own murder method: while one held the victim's head and pinched their nose, another would pour water into the victim's mouth until they drowned in their bed. Since elderly patients frequently had fluid in their lungs, it was an unprovable crime.

They were caught after they were overheard bragging about their latest murder at a local tavern. They confessed to 49 murders over six years, but may have been responsible for as many as 200.
