Anakin Skywalker was a legendary Human male Jedi Knight who served the Galactic Republic in its final years, and later became Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith. He was the son of Shmi Skywalker. Later in his life, he became the secret husband of Senator Padmé Amidala of Naboo, and became the father of the legendary Jedi Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa Solo.

After learning that Senator Palpatine was secretly the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, Dooku turned to the dark side and became a Dark Lord of the Sith himself. As Sidious's new apprentice, he was given the Sith name Darth Tyranus.

Naga Sadow was a powerful Sith Lord and sorcerer during the first Sith Empire. After the death of Marka Ragnos, Sadow competed with Ludo Kressh to become the new Dark Lord of the Sith, playing on the Sith Lords' fears of the Galactic Republic to gain their support.

Darth Bane, born under the name of Dessel on Apatros, was one of the most pivotal Dark Lords of the Sith. After serving as a soldier in the Sith Army, Bane trained at Korriban's Sith Academy, where he quickly established his presence as the most powerful student there.

He later helped bring upon the destruction of the old Sith order, the Brotherhood of Darkness, which he felt was ruled by weak fools who were preventing the Sith from achieving their true potential. Bane was one of the few Force-sensitives to survive the Last Battle of Ruusan which signified the end of the thousand-year-long New Sith Wars. After its destruction, he then reinvented the Sith into the Order of the Sith Lords by establishing the Rule of Two, a structure which limited the number of Sith and eliminated the infighting which had plagued the old order.

A'Sharad Hett eventually made his way back to his homeworld of Tatooine where he vowed to wage a private war against the new Galactic Empire. However, he eventually fell to the dark side after capture and torture by the Yuuzhan Vong and soon proclaimed himself Dread Lord and Dark Lord of the Sith, taking the name "Darth Krayt". As Krayt, he became the founder and leader of the new Sith Order.

Darth Plagueis, also known as Darth Plagueis the Wise, was a Muun Dark Lord of the Sith, heir to the lineage of Darth Bane and a master of midi-chlorian manipulation, who lived during the century leading up to the Battle of Naboo. Obsessed with eternal life, Plagueis experimented with ways to cheat death and create new life from the midi-chlorians. It is rumoured that this experiment is how Anakin Skywalker was conceived as his mother was a virgin.
