A former woodcutter, Charlie was one of the first to join the Barbarians. Like many others was first "scouted" brawling in the local tavern.
When coach Wagner found him, he was about to be thrown in prison for the beating of 3 people, who happend to be the mayor's sons, after them questioned his sister's honour.
The 3 broken arms, 2 noses and 2 legs broken didn't make the mayor very forgiving, but definetly got the coach's attention. Wagner payed the mayor for his freedom, and a few days later he was at the training camp.
In the first game he repayed the trust of the coach making a few holes in the opposition's lines, and scoring a TD
