Before the Spartan king took his 300 to defend his kingdom against the onslaught of Persians, he was the captain of an epic, burly, and drunk bunch of Blood Bowl players.
With his knack for inspiring speeches, battle tactics, wolf killing, and his impressive arm (showcased by spear throwing), the Norse drafted Leonidas with the hope that he can bring them Zlurpee Green (the Zlurpee equivalent of gold).

Of course the Norse were impressed by the fact that Brett Keisel is an All-Pro defensive lineman on a team that stresses defensive excellence. But it was Keisel's beard that got him on the Norse radar.
After the Super Bowl loss to the Green Bay Packers, Brett wasn't ready to stop hitting people. Knowing that, and expecting the NFL lockout to be a tad lengthy, the Norse offered Keisel a contract to create a powerful presence on their Blood Bowl team.
Unfortunately for opponents...he agreed.

Before his seafaring days, and before his beard became legend, Blackbeard "ran the rock" for the Norse Blood Bowl team. Spry in his youth, Blackbeard showcased his instincts and agility on the pitch that would later pave the way of a reputation being an unmatched pirate captain and swordsman.
His successful Blood Bowl career would later drive him mad to finding the Fountain of Youth to recapture such glory days.

The Norse scouting team absolutely refuses to take a look at any so called "talent" within the boundaries of France. However, the myth of the Wolfman was too enticing to pass up. What the French thought was a curse, the Norse found a blessing.
The Wolfman was taken north to be an Ulfwerener for Blood Bowl and the Norse are expecting fountains of blood caused by the hands of Talbot. The problem is, the Norse have to hope they play a lot of night games...night games under a full moon.

Unlike his distant cousin who dared to capture and later eat Luke Skywalker, this Wampa will not wait to eat his victims. To him, his opponents are nothing but weak, little Tauntauns. The only things that can stop him are lightsabers and his own rage.
Unfortunately, the latter is an often occurrence on the pitch.
You are probably asking yourself, "How does a viking god join a Blood Bowl team, and is only a lineman?". Perhaps you should take it as a result of the lofty attributes it takes to be on a Norse Blood Bowl team? That even a god can barely make the roster.
The truth is, Odin is a god in a human's body which he had to posses when the Norse prayed to him to be on their team, making him vulnerable as opposed to his true divine self.
Despite the minor setback of basic humanity/mortality, Odin makes due with his average vessel making the Norse faithful proud.
The Norse scouting agency once again travels to a galaxy far, far away to find an immense talent to fill in as their second ulfwerener. They found the mighty Chewbacca on the treetops of Kashyyyk.
Chewbacca was already a proven warrior, but his unique (for a Norse...not a Wookie) mixture of size, speed, athleticism, and tenacity made him completely desireable.
The choice was easy for Chewy, whose planet was overtaken by the Empire; be a slave or be one of the most fiercest competitors on the Blood Bowl pitch?
He once played a season at lineman for a Norse Blood Bowl team...as a vacation.
He is, the most interesting man in the world.

With his rustic and soothing voice, the Norse asked Mr. Elliot to be the voice of EBD Blood Bowl. However, after witnessing so many games and practices, Sam developed a taste of bloodlust and tried out for the team. With his play on the pitch matching his mustache in vigor, he made the team.
