Originally Japh's fencing tutor, Smaye has formed a close bond with the Roses' leader, and accompanied him when he left the family estate. Although his fondness for fine wine and rich food have not been kind to his figure, this veteran of many of the city's power-struggles still possesses great strength and prowess, if not the speed or agility of his youth.

Formerly serving as a musician in the mansion of the Vehemia family, Bodun Starn served as Japh's mole in their organisation, allowing the Roses to operate under their noses without fear of the reprisals usually meted out to any criminal activity which did not have their blessing. Having to tolerate the unwanted attentions of several of the Vehemia, she still holds an all-consuming hatred of their surviving members.

Vaunai Umbrish grew up amongst the Gloom Elves of Úilín. Seeking the secrets of immortality, she turned to increasingly dark and barbaric rituals, until finally she was expelled by the community; an outcast amongst outcasts. She has found the acceptance she craves amongst the Roses, though several of their members still view her with distrust due to her continued dabblings in dark magicks. Like most magic-users, she has also perfected the arts of sleight of hand, deceit and misdirection, in the interest of both concealing her occult secrets and making her conjurations more impressive.

Vaunai used her s of sleight-of-hand to score the Roses' first ever touchdown against their local compatriots.

During the Roses' clash with the Gloom Elf team Camthalion d'Úilín, her fellow elves, recognising the dark taint on her soul, singled her out for particularly vicious treatment, fracturing her ankle. A combination of her knowledge of medicinal herbs, and the attention of the team apothecary, allowed her to swiftly recover.

The Roses next faced the Dawi-Zharr of Yantai. Studying their stout warriors provided valuable insight into the appliance of violence, helping Vaunai learn to perfect her BLOCKs.

This ancient Troll, who has lived through much strife thanks to his regenerative powers, once served Frederick the Foul, the tyrannical wizard-advisor and de facto ruler of Pockara. After many adventures, which he is too dim to relate in any detail beyond 'Da Forn been in sum fights', he became Japh's personal bodyguard, and one half of the muscle for the Roses. He aided their raids on coaches and merchant caravans by simply stepping into the road and punching out the lead horses, leaving the rest of the band to profit from the ensuing chaos while he settled in to eat the poor animals, the only payment he ever required.

Japh's regular attempts to pound some rudimentary knowledge of their new game into Da Forn's thick head paid off after the Roses' 2nd match, allowing the troll to help GUARD his team-mates.

Raised into a goat-herding family, Hermund left home at an early age, seeking fame, fortune, and frankly, an easier life than the basic subsistence his father was able to provide to his numerous children. Headin fof into the world with little education, few possessions, and no clear plan, this naive adolescent soon discovered that his greatest asset was the strength a life of farmwork had given him. A former bouncer, miner, enforcer, lumberjack, man-at-arms, city watchman, dock porter, farmhand, bare-knuckle fighter, bear-wrestler, and circus strongman, Hermund has now spent several years providing muscle for Japh in those situations where a troll or minotaur would attract too much attention.

After the team's 2nd match, when he was able to barrel through the flimsy Gloom Elves for a touchdown, Hermund soon discovered that this wealth of experience could be applied to allow him to throw a more powerful BLOCK.

From her youth as a street urchin, sleeping rough and living on whatever she could scavenge, to her time as a fortune teller, mystic and petty thief, feeding reassuring vagaries to the middle classes while pilfering from their homes, Erian has always had to fend for herself, and cultivated a solitary, hardened demeanour. Japh was the first to break through this facade, to the vulnerable and needy young woman within. Nonetheless, their relationship has been fiery, with numerous ups and downs. Throughout all of them, she has remained loyal to the Roses, knowing that they offer her the best prospects a lowborn orphan is likely to have. Nonetheless, Japh suspects that should a chance at true security present itself, whether through a rich husband, a long-lost and previously unsuspected family inheritance, or any other opportunity she might encounter, she would be the first to walk away without a second thought for her team-mates.

Her cold-hearted nature was apparent in the Roses 2nd game against the Gloom Elf team Camthalion d'Úilín when she fractured the leg of one of the Elves. This display earned her the approval of the crowd, and the MVP award for the game. This boost to her confidence allowed her to capitalise on the skills she learned as a child, where she grew well-used to having to DODGE the blows of the shop-keepers and market traders she regularly stole food from.
