After his seventh match and while celebrating a Howling victory in Lundan's most famous - and feared - pubs, he pulled some extra muscles from a drunken orcish sailor that challenged him to do some arm wrestling. Luckily, the Howling's necromancer was at hand to work the muscles into Mortimer's physiology.

11th match got him another MVP and therefore promotion to veteran. To celebrate this, he arm wrestled a treeman in "The Yronroots". Won that one, too, and again, the necromancer did a good job recycling those pulled treeman muscles.

In the Howling's first 8 matches he was chosen MVP four times, giving him not only access to the arts of blocking but also inspiring every single action he takes, whether it might be hurting the opposition with casualties or playing the excellent "catch, run & score"-game of Elves or Skaven.
