Rirkz the Claw, self-appointed team captain of the Blighted Marshes Brawlers and self-proclaimed Nuffle's gift to Blood Bowl, started his life as a small Night Runner in training for clan Eshin. However, where the clan thrives upon the stealth of its members, Rirkz was nothing more then a blunt tool. Whereas his fellow Night Runners would leave no marks whatsoever of their presence, Rirkz' missions left so many marks, that he was known as 'the Destroyer'.

Despite the misgivings his superiors had about his... less then subtle approach, Rirkz was effective enough in his accomplishments, up to the point where he had to take down a Warlock Engineer of clan Skryre. During this mission, a weapon overloaded and blew up a large part of the lair of the Engineer, resulting in a warpstone fallout that heavily affected Rirkz. In the following weeks, he began to grow rapidly, turning from a small, nimble creature into a large, hulking brute.

Being released by clan Eshin, he eventually found his way into the warband of the Brawlers, ending up on the Blood Bowl pitch where his viciousness and speed is right at home.

While some would say that Xaort was added to the team after Girch Red Eyes got his collar bone smashed in by the boot of some foul Beard-thing creature, whispers go around the dugout of a more sinister plot taking place. As Girch was quite the promising Blitzer, the reserves behind him were always growing restless around their potential ever ongoing role as benchwarmers. Obviously, Skaven being Skaven, this meant that Girch was forced to look behind him at every corner, making sure no knife would find his back.

Of course, there are different ways of getting rid of ones enemies. So, one night, Vragni Ogrebane of the Ironfist Nomads found a message at his cod, saying that Girch Red Eyes has made some rude comments about his family lineage. Dwarves being Dwarves, that obviously did not set well with Vragni, who during gameday itself hunted down the Blitzer and kicked him right into (early) retirement... consequently paving the way for an eager Xaort, who eventually made his debut the next game.

Where he came from, noone knows. All they know is that Xaort is a mean creature, doing whatever required to keep himself on the team!

Unlike many of his fellow team members, Mroxk does not hail from the ranks of clan Eshin, but from clan Pestilens. Situated in the dense and humid jungles of Lustria, fighting an ever ongoing war against the jungles native inhabitants that are the Lizardmen, clan Pestilens is a zealous group of Skaven, who believe that their deity (the Horned Rat) is the embodiment of all diseases in the Old World. Fanatical as they are, this means they embrace every sniffle, cough and rise in temperature is a positive sign from the one they worship. Obviously, this also means a large portion of the clan Pestilens members die due to untreated diseases.

Now Mroxk was a different creature in that regard. Never one to try and stand out too much from the crowd, he was considered to be a moderate member by his peers, a solid Skaven to depend on, but not one to give too much control or leadership over his kin. He was to become the guardian. The solid defence.
For many seasons, this has not been a problem, as Mroxk has always been content with that role given to him. However, a new... well, wind... (har har)... through the upper echelons of the clan, that demanded a more frenzied role from their warriors in the war against the Lizardmen. Where Mroxk was used to his role of defence, he was now forced to go into the offence, something that did not sit well with the warrior.

Adressing this issue to his peers, he was accused of treason against the clan, and narrowly escaped with his life as he fled the jungles and worked his way back to the anonimity that is the large stretch of lands around Skavenblight known as the Blighted Marshes. It was here that he encountered a small warband known as the Brawlers, ready to invade the fields of Blood Bowl...

Whereas it is commonly believed that only Orcs value their brethren by the darker colour of the skin (with Black Orcs being the meanest ones around), this is also the case with Skaven, though more about their fur, rather then the colour of their skin. Actually, if a Skaven has so little fur that other Skaven see his skin, this is usually considered to be a malnourished runt and consequently killed and eaten.
For Uglug, this has never been the case. His black fur shows him as a killer. As one creature that you do not want to mess with. Or fall out with. Actually, it is better for your health when you have nothing to do with him at all. Shun him!

On the pitch, however, he shows some other remarkable qualities. Competing with Rirkz the Claw for team captaincy, Uglug sets out the lines. He is the quarterback and directs players into the right directions, in order to score when needed, but also where Uglug wants them to score.
Not shy of dishing out a little furry justice himself, he is occasionally seen in the local gyms around Tilea, working out in order to beef up and show some competition against Rirkz.

With many Gutter Runners from the Skaven team tracing their origins back towards the daunting training fields of clan Eshin, within the Brawlers, this is especially the case for Nalden long Whiskers. The reason for this is that while many are drafted from the thousands upon thousands of warlord clans that encompass the Skaven empire, Nalden was actually born in one of the many, many litters that clan Eshin themselves have.

Although some might claim that would give one certain advantages during training, Nalden never speaks of his youth, nor does anyone dare to ask. For while certain traits are passed on from one generation to the next, the demands from the Eshinite litters itself is gruelling. As they are of clan Eshin stock, the expectations from their peers is bordering insanity. There is never room for errors, nor place for excuses. When one executes their tasks, only perfection is accepted.

Nalden never sought to become an Eshinite and so left the clan, in order to carve his own destiny. Finding his way into the Blood Bowl circuit, he knew what the future would hold, and the greatness that he will achieve.

Curznack the Rat has played as a Gutter Runner for the Blighted Marshes Brawlers for several seasons and although not being known for his exceptional speed, or scoring prowess, he was one that loved to hunt down the ball carriers and catchers. So much, even, that his own fellow team members became a little wairy of him during the many training sessions that the headcoach Lord Vinshqueek makes them go through.

However, before the start of the fourth season of GRIND, there had been an incident.
Curznack was one to easily befriend his former clan Moulder comrades and, to the frustration of the headcoach, could be found in Skavenblight on many nights, going on binge tours, only to return the next morning, completely wasted. This began to occur so frequently, though, that whispers went around the team and the rumour circuit about drinking problems, fuelled by the lack of playing time and assumed importance for the team. As such, he was temporarily disbanded from the team to sort out both his drinking problems, as well as his personal issues and daemons.

To an extent, this worked. For one, Curznack is back with the intention to play more, and play better. However, due to the less training he did while in his self-reflective period, he gained a lot of weight and became both slower and heavier.
So, no longer in the position of Gutter Runner, but now as a Linerat, Curznack is back on the hunt!

Amongst the many, many Blood Bowl fields that can be found throughout Tilea, the Skaven are never a welcome sight. Not merely due to their grotesque nature and some of the more disgusting mutations that can be found on players, but in terms of tactics due to the ridiculous speed they can employ. This is especially the case with the Gutter Runners. Trained by clan Eshin for their stealth, they are speedy creatures, able to cover great distances in very short time.

One of these used to be Morbaag Two-Paws. As a member of clan Eshin, he was sent out on various covert missions, usually to grab documents or important items from opposing clans. These were tasks in which he excelled, not only due to the sheer speed he could unleash and with it, get away from any pursuers, but also due to him being quite nimble of foot. In many cases where he needed to evade potential capture, he was always seen flying through road blocks, jumping through small holes and over opponents, without ever losing his footing or his captured documents or items.
That was, up to the moment where he had to travel towards Hell Pit, far beyond the snowy lands of men, called Kislev. Here, he managed to evade capture for quite a while upon his travel back south, until a jump meant he was wide open to a waiting Rat Ogre. The beast leapt up and bit Morbaag in the side, ripping his arm off... It wasn't enough to capture him, but severely wounded, he would never be left back into clan Eshin. He was no more what they thought of him.

During this time, it was that Morbaag got to know Rirkz, then just recovering from his accident at a clan Skryre laboratorium. Despite any misgivings Morbaag felt for his fellow (former) clan Eshin member for becoming a Rat Ogre, the two eventually found their way onto the Blood Bowl pitch, where the Gutter Runner now known as Morbaag one Paw is claiming victory for the Blighted Marshes Brawlers with his speedy scoring!

Kick
As with many a Skaven team, not just in Tilea, but throughout the Old World, there are legions of clanrats eager for the chance to enter any of the Blood Bowl fields, in search of glory. However, this also means the competition amongst clanrats to actually be first in the long, looooong line of eager newlings is a vicious one.
Cro, however, has a different problem. He is the only enlisted linerat left from the original line-up. That means that were the newlings are aiming to beat one another, Cro has a huge swarm of them gleefully awaiting his demise... Whether that's from action on the pitch, or anything that happens off-game.

This has resulted in Cro being forced to become a mean linerat. He will kick. He will foul. No matter what, if it means he can worry about less beatdowns, he will be there to enforce Cro's justice.
