Halfling team lineups (Stunty)

This page relates to starting lineups for the stunty division. For other divisions, use halfling team lineups (LRB).

Your main decision with a halfling team is "ogres or trees?"

Trees are the strongest and most durable players in open division, but dreadfully slow - your opponent can usually avoid them after the first couple of turns. Treemen, when knocked over, need to roll 4+ to get back up - with ST6, this isn't very often though. What you need to be more worried about is the "take root" trait - half the time, a treeman will miss the first half of the game.

Ogres are more versatile players - they can be used to blitz, are potentially better at throwing teammates (if you're lucky enough to get +AG), and can run with the crowd. The "bonehead" trait means that ogres can let you down at the worst possible time while on the pitch however, and being weaker than treemen, they can be knocked down and fouled out more easily. (As of the BBRC 2003 Rules Review, Ogres have been removed from the Halfling roster. FUMBBL no longer allows new Ogres to be added to new or exisitng Halfling rosters, though existing Ogres will remain until they are killed or retired.)

The halflings themselves are born to die - don't get too attached to them or you won't have fun with this team. With their awful stats, you will be making a lot of go for its, 3+ pickups, 4+ landing rolls and blitzes that aren't in your favour. I.E. dont skimp on rerolls!

Setup 1:

  • 2 treemen = 220k
  • 11 halfings = 330k
  • 6 rerolls = 360k
  • FF9 = 90k

total 1000k

Setup 2:

  • 2 ogres = 240k
  • 11 halflings = 330k
  • 5 rerolls = 300k
  • apothecary = 50k
  • FF8 = 80k

total 1000k

Alternates: Swap an ogre for a tree in either setup, and make up the 10k with fan factor adjustment. Swap a reroll or 2 halflings for an apothecary and a cheerleader in setup 1 16 halflings! Don't expect to win (m)any games though

Above all, have fun and dont take it too seriously - give recovery matches to teams with 8 players available to play, and you might get a competitive game.

Setup 3:

  • 2 Treemen
  • Deeproot Strongbranch freebooted
  • 12 Halflings
  • 3 Rerolls
  • 9 FF
  • 60k in the bank

Use the 60k to buy extra ingredients to bleed your opponent dry of rerolls for your first game.
