Tournament Modes
Tournament modes are a new concept which applies to tournaments that are run in season-enabled environments. They affect three distinct parts of the tournament process as follows:
-
Tournament Entry: The different modes limit which teams are allowed to enter a tournament: Teams may be required to be in end-of-season state, and teams with more games played in the season than allowed in the ruleset may be excluded from joining.
-
During tournament behaviour: The redraft behaviour during a tournament is affected. Some modes will allow redrafting during the tournament (most won't). There are also controls for if a team may manually end their season mid-tournament.
-
Tournament Exit behaviour: This affects what happens with teams once they exit the tournament. In certain cases, the teams will be forced into end-of-season state or even forced into redrafting.
The list of tournament modes are defined as follows:
| Entry | During | Exit |
Tournament Mode | Require end-season | Allow excess games | Redraft mode | Allow end season | Redraft mode |
Transparent | No | Yes | Default | Default | Default |
Free-form | No | Yes | None | No | Default |
Minor | No | No | None | No | Default |
Qualifier | Yes | No | None | No | End Season |
Major | Yes | No | None | No | Redraft |
Invitational | Yes | Yes | None | No | Redraft |
