I joined Fumbbl as a complete blood bowl beginner in 2004 and played a lot till 2011, when real life forced me to quit what had become a full-on addiction.
In 2013 some friends invited me to my first NAF live tournament (the Tilean Team Cup held in Modena, Italy); I enjoyed the event immensely and got hooked again. Together we founded a blood bowl team named The Honey Badgers ("I tassi del miele" in italian), and since then we have taken part in quite a few other tournaments. In 2016 I created an official website for the team, and in december 2020 we started a permanent league (which we run using the Fumbbl client).
After so many years I have come to consider tournaments and leagues the most satisfying form of blood bowl, and lost a bit of interest in open play. I gladly abandoned the neverending team building effort and the long-term planning aspects of the game almost entirely (and with them, hopefully, the insane level of addiction as well). In turn, I think I got a little better at dealing with the unpredictable turns of luck and mismatches that are so common in league play.
My proudest achievement on Fumbbl is undoubtedly the Lavino Fighting Hellfishes, a team I created in 2005 that made me famous. For a few years the Hellfishes held the honour of being the longest running human team on the site (and thus, probably, in the world), and the first human team to ever hit the 300, 400, 500, 600 and 700 games milestones.
The Hellfishes played all their games in the Ranked Division and prospered, facing all kinds of opponents while maintaining a strict "no injuries" policy (and the ageing rule was still a thing back then!). During their run they also achieved some degree of success, which is doubly impressive as I was never a "top coach" even in my golden days.
Their true legacy, though, was sparking my undying love for humans. A love that is still going strong after so many years.
