Well, it was a good game against a team of Wood Elves, the Orion Leaves. Nuffle's blessing was upon the Warpstoners, even though they did bobble some of the plays a bit. Their opponents were a group of Line Elves captained by a War Dancer.
One of the strong players in the game was #7 Jurgen Hister. He not only killed on of the Elven players, but broke the seriously injured another. However, the Leaves targeted him in a retalitory strike after #3 Frans Gruuber flagrantly fouled the Wardancer Captain and broke his jaw. Hister will have to miss the next game while recouperating.
Erik Hummel is also making an auspicious beginning, with an excellent run of blocks that resulted in knocking another of the Elves out of the game with a final butcher's bill of 4 casualties for the Orion Leaves compared to the 2 of the Warpstoners.
Karl Reichman finally appears to be getting into his game, with a total of three completions against the Orion Leaves. The rookie thrower was heard saying that "-it really helps not having drooling orcs or really angry dwarves going after your head."
Sadly, though, this game saw the retirement of two of the original Warpstoners. Jules Hoffman and Aleister Grauss, both of whom missed this game, retired from the team with a recurring injury and a fractured leg, respectively. However, they both said they were happy to be on the team for its first victory.
"It's funny, actually. The game we don't play in has the smallest crowd and the biggest winnings against the fastest team we've gone up against so far. It was a day for firsts," said Aleister Grauss.
The fans were as fickle as ever, with the Warpstoner's fans threatening the Referee in the last seconds of the first half, and the Leaves' fans doing the same right after half-time.
The real entertainment came in the final few seconds of the game, when the fans were treated to a true elven temper-tantrum. The tension had been building with each elven casualty, and finally broke with the flagrant foul against the Wardancer Captain. It was then that the elven coach started cursing the coach of the Warpstoners, the players, and seemed to curse Nuffle himself. The fans and the coach responded by smiling, cheering, and saying, "Welcome to Blood Bowl!"
