fumbbl > cyanide
I bought this game and whilst beautiful in a graphics sense and true to game play, the multiplayer is fraught with bugs, disconnects and slowness.

I just spent 20mins to get a game and then when everything finally loaded, my opponent did a dodge roll in turn 1 and it crashed. Not his disconnecting, just the program closed down. If cyanide coach Sturm150 is reading this, sorry mate but that is my fourth game crash in my past 6 games and I am done with that piece of rubbish.

fumbbl FTW

Now that the client is almost perfect LRB6, including the new teams, and Chaos Dwarfs, I see no reason to use the Cyanide client again. This is quicker, more gameplay friendly, and frankly I could care less about the pretty graphics.

Moaning about it here is no fun.

If you want to moan you need to moan on the Cyanide forum. ;)

One thing that BBLE has over FUMBBL is almost 100% chance of winning... against the AI that is. But if you want to play Blood Bowl, but don't want any sort of challenge and want to get done in 30 to minutes, BBLE is the game to choose. For everything else... and I mean everything else, there is FUMBBL.

I think I only played Cyanides first version once or twice (I'd had enough after the beta, and there wasn't much difference).

Although the graphics are shiny, do you not find that you end up zooming out into a birds-eye view, which actually doesn't look as good as FFB, to get a decent perspective of the game 90% of the time?

Are your ports open? Are the graphics settings too high for your PC to handle?

Disconnects (unintentional ones anyways) are pretty uncommon from my experiences... maybe 5% of the time...assuming that you haven't optimized your settings and have a somewhat stable internet connection.

Crashes are pretty rare as well, I've personally only had a handful, in hundreds of matches. It's also been a long time since the last one.

As for bugs, yes there are a few and a couple of them are quite irritating. Although, most are again, pretty uncommon and/or very minor. The only two that I've seen recently are the extra man on kick-off set-up and the one where a player isn't able to be put on the field during kick-off set-up. Both irritating, but also somewhat uncommon.

I would suggest trying to turn down your graphic settings (based on the "slowness" comment), maybe even open up your video card manager and setting up a profile for the game. Also try opening your ports. That should at least make things less frustrating from a technical PoV... then you can move on to ranting about the exploits in MM (which is where the biggest problem with Cyanide's game are imho)... although, if you don't use MM much (or at all), the game is a decent enough client for leagues and to play friends.

Yes, because that sounds so much easier than playing fumbbl.

Nothing that I mentioned is time consuming or all that complicated. I get it, you <3 fumbbl and no mistress will do... fact is, he spent money on Cyanide's game and he isn't enjoying it due primarily to technical issues... I was merely trying to suggest ways to resolve some of his issues.

This isn't a Cyanide vs fumbbl debate.

yes it is

you're right...it's not a debate....

it was when fumbbl did not have a released LRB6 client....now that it does, there is no longer a debate...

cyanide is a professional software company that has consistently lagged behind our small "for the love of the game" group of FFB programmers...kalimar, lakrillo & christer have constantly been above the bar on professionalism, quality and dedication, whereas cyanide only wants your dollar...

you can't have a debate between two parties, when fumbbl is the only one that consistently shows up to perform...

LOL @ Wraiht

The blog is named: fumbbl > cyanide

And this isn't a Cyanide vs fumbbl debate.

My post was to state my view... I know that my view wont be agreed by everyone and hence the debate.

Wraith - thanks for the technical input and I will look into it but I have to say everything else I play seems to connect and work fine... not sure why a Dell PC with standard windows operating system should clap out on the Cyanide game. To be honest, I wasnt aware there was a graphics tone down option!

But your help aside, I love the "game". I love the strategy and the chaos that is blood bowl. The fact that I play it in a pretty grassy field with cheerleaders prancing in the background isnt why I play.

My #1 mode of playing BB is tabletop... I live in Dubai and I think I have the only board in the country! So that is an option no longer available to me (been here 2.5yrs now). So, fumbbl and cyanide are my options and due to the lack of crashes, speed of getting a game and better community feel, fumbbl wins hands down.

Those who disagree, please feel to debate... that is the point of the "add comment" button. :-)

Clayinfinity - You're welcome. Give it a try and the game might work a bit better for you.

To the regular troll crew - I wasn't arguing that either client is better than the other, hence "this isn't a Cyanide vs fumbbl debate". I was offering advice to maybe let Clayinfinity get more out of his investment. You see, not everyone is obsessive fan boys. I like both clients for different reasons, but I have no obsessive loyalty to either one. As the old saying goes... haters gonna hate.
