Early Season Report NWBL Bronze - Stannum League
The NWBL Bronze Stannum League has completed Interleague play and the regular season is now in swing with matches happening faster than the press core can keep up. After only 3-4 games the league has been left with a clear divide of haves and have-nots. The Nasty Boiz of Nurgle (3/1/0) were able to rack up 64 Star Player Points in just 4 matches, after running through the 101 Goblins, Skaven Nippon Night-Runners, and the Elven Tree Friends. The Pestigor Spleenslaughter has already gained 3 TDs, 2 MVP Selections and a pair of casualties to boot. He already sports the impressive pairing of Block and Mighty Blow. They have established themselves as a clear front-runner.
Not to be outdone, the Chaos Dwarf Doubtsplained Dispoilers have posted an early 3-0 win streak. Their round 1 victory over the Almagora Diestros Human squad, was fairly standard play, but things ramped up with a 2-0 victory over the Snotling Tiny Town Terrors, followed by a 2-1 slaughter-fest of the Elven Tree Friends. In three matches the squad has amassed 49 Star Player Points. They now sport a pair of Block Bulls, a Guard Dwarf Blocker, and a Dirty Player Hobgoblin. Hobgoblin Alessandra Boadill has started to rise as one of the team-leaders with a TD and MVP to her name.
The Box Elder Beards (2/0/1) lost a close match-up against an experienced Chaos Chosen Team, Otter Chaos, but rebounded with a decisive victory 2-0 over the Black Orc Kunning Brutez. They followed that up with a 2-0 win over the Hightown High Hats. The squad has been productive but hasn’t generated the same star player points as the Nurgle or Chorf squads mentioned. They tout a Block Runner and a Guard Longbeard, and there is consistent development across several other players just waiting for one more casualty.
The Elven Tree Friends, Hightown High Hats and Nippon Night-Runners have all struggled with keeping key players on the field, and because of the numbers disadvantage have yet to see any true rising stars come from their ranks yet. The Tree Friends have 2 healthy War Dancers, one with Strip Ball. The High Hats have a Dodge Catcher, and a blitzer and thrower nearly there. The Nippon Night Runners have a Blodging Gutter Runner in Ikit Blackshadow.
As it stands the clear front runners are the Nasty Boiz of Nurgle, and the Chaos Dwarf Doubtsplained Dispoilers. This round still looks forward to the matchup between the High Hats and the Night Runners. The High Hats come in healthier, but it should be a good match up of two true agility teams playing sideline to sideline - instead of the violent scrums the two have had each game to start. The Box Elder Beards will be facing off with the Dispoilers for the Match of the Week. The Chaos Dwarfs tout a more developed squad, and the speed of the Bulls will be hard to overcome. The Beards will have to play very sound to have a chance in a match where they are likely the underdog.
